Indigo Bagels — Restaurant in Nagaoka

Dense, delicious bagels on order at this distinctly urban bagel bakery. The bagel shop is hidden among residences near Nagaoka’s downtown. I tried three different types of bagels, and they were all amazing. The olive had whole olives sandwiched inside one of the densest bagels I’ve ever had in Japan. The trend tends to be for more spongy, fluffy type bagels, and those have their place, but if you like dense bagels, Indigo Bagels will suit your palate. The cinnamon bagel was also excellent, a superb balance of cinnamon with the body of the chewy bagel. The basil, nuts, and parmesan bagel was delicious, and the combination of ingredients made it feel like having a bowl of pesto pasta, the nuts being minced very well and the basil being very flavorful. Being a small mom & pop type of store, there aren’t huge stocks of different types of bagels, so if you want some of the more popular types like chocolate or salt & sweet bean jam, you should go close to opening. There is only space for one group of customers at a time, so be prepared to wait for your delicious bagels. The price point is perfect, and the one staff member was kind, welcoming, and happy to help dial in a customer’s bagel preferences. 念願のインディゴさん🥯 今回は、プレーンと、プレーン生地で作った栗サンドをいただきました。 表面はバリッっと、そしてムギュっと！新潟県内で1番硬めの生地じゃないかなと思います。そして、生地の塩味、小麦の風味も強め。私好みで、すごく美味しかったです。「プレーンのベーグルを買い置きするなら、インディゴさん！」と思いました🥯
