We visited this restaurant after seeing the many high ratings and reviews, but unfortunately, our experience didn’t match the hype. We arrived about 15 minutes after opening, and while there were only three occupied tables (a total of seven people), the service was inconsistent at best. We were told to take a table and found menus already placed there, which was convenient. However, while other tables were greeted by a staff member and provided water, condiments, and napkins, we were ignored. Eventually, we had to go to the counter to place our order, even though the staff was taking orders at other tables. After placing our order, we waited about 35 minutes for our burgers to arrive. The initial presentation was great, but unfortunately, the taste did not live up to expectations. The hamburger patty was small, overcooked, tough, and bland, giving the impression of a frozen, store-bought patty with only minimal seasoning. The bun, though light and fluffy, lacked any flavor and contributed nothing to the overall taste. I requested my burger without the tomato tartar sauce it normally comes with, but even with a sauce, I doubt it would have saved the flavorless patty. The fries were also underwhelming—they appeared to be the type you’d find in the frozen food aisle of a supermarket, lacking any standout taste or texture. Overall, I am genuinely puzzled by the high ratings this place receives. If a restaurant specializes in a single type of food, it should excel at it, but that was not the case here. This meal was not worth the hour-and-a-half drive nor the price we paid. Sadly, there was nothing impressive about the food, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a truly...
Read moreWe visited on a Monday, and it felt like the restaurant was understaffed. The husband was cooking while the wife took orders and served, so the service was quite slow—we waited a while for our food, and even though there were empty seats, the owners turned away customers because they couldn’t keep up.
The atmosphere also felt heavy and a bit dark, and I think it could be improved with more lighting. It’s such a beautiful location with the beach right in front, but the view is let down by unclean windows and overgrown grass.
As for the food, I appreciated the effort of making their own burger buns, and the burgers come with fries (though they were frozen). The patties themselves could use more seasoning. Overall, the burgers were okay, but at this price point you can get better quality in places like Sandbox in Chatan. On Yagaji Island itself, I’d much rather go to AvoCafe, which offers better quality food and a more inviting atmosphere.
Given our experience, I don’t really understand the high ratings this place has received, and we probably...
Read more3 out of the 4 adults in our group give Benjamin Burger a 3 and the 4th says a 4.... It is not kid friendly as in they didn’t have any high chairs or booster seats or any play area but did have 1 option for a large “kid burger”. A few of us had large chunks of fat/gristle in our burgers but the flavoring was good. The tartar sauce tasted like a delicious aioli. All of us agree the fries were the best part! The location is hard to find but seems like they recently put a new sign out to help with navigation. All things factored it would be a 3.5 out of 5. Not worth the extra drive out of the way if you’re traveling to...
