Liese Steak House — Restaurant in Nikko

A western style steak restaurant in a relatively quiet neighbouthood on the way back from Kinugawa to Nikko city. The set comes with rice, salad and a deliciously sweet soup (thought it was pumpkin but was told its corn).

The beef are supposedly local Tochigi and the menu has a wide range of beef quality for selection, but we opted for the more common types as the prices of top grade Wagyu here are matching that of Michelin starred restaurant in Tokyo and other big cities.

The Sirloin steak was moist reasonably tender but some slices of the teppanyaki set was a bit tough. The lady serving the food was very nice and cheerful and patiently trying to answer our questions while I used Google Translate.

This steakhouse’s 🥩specially is Tochigi beef❣️Which I now think is better than Kobe beef. It not as pricey as Kobe either. Tochigi beef is tender and full flavored. It was melting in my mouth. I ordered tenderloin set dinner medium rare and it was perfectly medium rare with roasted garlic, potatoes, onion, carrot & string beans. Soup, salad, rice and a beverage is included in the set. Local steakhouse that focuses on meat from around this region. We tried the chateaubriand cut which was both tender and juicy and cooked well to our liking.
