Butadon No Tonta — Restaurant in Obihiro

We visited on 6th Sep 2025 as we heard that Obihiro is famous for their butadon and found this shop. We arrived around 1230, peak lunch hour on a Saturday, and expected a long wait but was pleasantly surprised by how fast the queue to park was. Furthermore, the attendant at the parking lot allowed one of us to go into the building to sign our names on the list first to save time.

It took about 10 minutes to park the car and another 10 minutes before we were seated. The waiting time did not feel long at all as there was free wifi and they give you the menu ahead of time to order before being seated. Also, the takeaway counter sold their sauce as a souvenir. It was so tempting! An uncle who sat at the table next to us bought it before even eating anything! We knew we had to get it then haha 😍

The pork was stunning! It was so soft and tender, especially the slices of pork belly where the fat just melts in the mouth. I would order more to eat but it feels sinful as it is. If only fat was healthy…

I recently dined at this restaurant and had quite an experience. The pork I ordered was exceptionally tender and juicy, although it was slightly on the salty side, it was still enjoyable. What impressed me the most was the excellent service. They were efficient and even had a staff member managing the parking during the busy 11:30 to 12:30 lunch rush, which I appreciated.

However, I must mention that this place can get incredibly crowded during peak hours. To avoid the long queues and a full parking lot, I recommend arriving at 11:00 or visiting after the lunch rush. Additionally, they offer a convenient take-away service, and they even sell their delicious sauce in bottles for you to take home, a great touch for food enthusiasts.

In summary, this restaurant is a great spot for a flavorful meal, especially if you time your visit right to avoid the crowds. The attentive service and the option to take their delectable sauce home make it a worthwhile dining...

This butadon shop came highly recommended from multiple people.

When we went to visit it it for lunch and it had a nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

My friend and I ordered two butadon bowls, one pork belly and one pork roast, both with extra meat.

I feel like I got jipped, because the non large picture shows like four and a half pieces of meat, but when I got my bowl after paying $220 and more I only had five and a half pieces. So I paid one third the total price of the whole bowl (4 1/2 pieces) for only one extra piece of meat. You're almost better off ordering a whole another bowl for an extra $220 yen and then just getting four extra pieces of meat.

Taste-wise it was pretty okay but I've had better at other places. I would recommend the pork belly over the pork roast though, it has better flavor and texture in my opinion.
