This is a unique experience. The food will often be quite novel to western palates both in flavour and texture. That being said, if I could rate it 10 out 5, I would and would visit here on every trip to Okinawa. It is most definitely worth spending the day up in the north of the island to eat here.
The food is made with great care from local ingredients, often home grown with a strong focus on vegetables. The food is delicious! For some options you need to book these the day in advance. YOU HAVE TO MAKE A RESERVATION! The food was inspiring and very well explained in printed form for those who aren't well versed in Japanese. Eating here is part of the process of contemplating why the Okinawan lifestyle, especially in the north is so well known for longevity.

I really enjoyed this meal so much… as someone who has been struggling with health this year, this meal was such a good reset to my digestive system and I understand why the seniors of Ogimi village are able to still be so strong and healthy!
Much thanks to the friendly staff at Emi no Mise, my partner and I drove from Nago and did not know that we needed to make reservation but they kindly slotted us in for the 1pm slot. (Do note this was probably possible as it was a Friday and we were just lucky!)
Will definitely wish to come back here the next time I travel to Okinawa. It was such a fantastic and...
