Shanti — Restaurant in Otoyo

I had the great chance to eat at Shanti today and it is by far the best curry shop I've ever been to in all of Japan. The owners are absolutely fantastic people, the food is unbelievably delicious and the whole place is located in a ridiculously beautiful area. Eating at Shanti is not just having a meal, it's an experience.

To go there today we had to drive 1h30m and I'd do it again tomorrow without hesitation.

My family + I had lunch here today + what a wonderful find! The delicious food is lovingly prepared by a happy, friendly couple using quality local ingredients... including fresh picked Blueberries from their garden! The wild boar + chicken curries were SO good! The home made ice cream, blueberry lassie and yuzu drink, glorious. We highly recommend this rare gem to all! Tied for my favorite India restaurant in Japan is Shanti. It’s authentic Indian home cooking in an absolutely stunning location. I think the spice level is fine for most Japanese people and should be no problem for westerners. I’ve been twice and will go again. A must try experience!
