Great Japanese dessert for a little break. After visiting Ishiyama Temple in Shiga Prefecture, I stopped by this nearby spot for a break Kanou Shoujuan is really famous Japanese sweets shop known for supplying its delicious confections to many retailers. So I was excited to experience it firsthand in the spot.

"Ishi mochi ", A mochi topped with sweet red beans, was simple yet amazingly delicious. I'm sure ingredients would be carefully selected. The red beans topping had a perfect sweetness , with a light mouthfeel and a refined taste that wasn’t excessively sweet. And with the chewy and soft texture, mochi gradually releases a gentle sweet. Great harmony with each other.

The menu was minimal. I wish I could have enjoyed more of their specialties. However, with its cozy ambience in a retro building, I had a great time experiencing authentic Japanese sweet's culture. It also serves several desserts for takeout and gifts which...
