We first had a taste of miso manju as a welcome snack from a ryokan we stayed at, and was blown away by the fragrant red bean filling in a fresh rice-mochi-like outer shell. We loved it so much that we asked the staff where to get it. On our next trip to Hokkaido, we specially made a stop at Rusutsu to get some - it was as delightful as we remembered! The shopkeeper was very friendly, and even gave us a few pieces for free after we purchased a box. We will definitely be back, we can’t get enough of miso manju!

There was a cute little old lady selling a delicious Japanese local snack. The old lady was very friendly and kind. We only bought a small box which cost ￥660 but she charged us only ￥500. We used Google translate and we're able to have a conversation with her. We will remember her for a long time to come.

【2017.08訪問】 スキー場や遊園地で有名なルスツ。 そんな町の名物、みそまんじゅうを買いに梅屋さんへ。 この近辺の道の駅なんかでも売ってるんだけど、折角なんでお店訪問しましょ。

梅屋さんは創業100年を超えるんだとか。 老舗菓子店なんですね！

引き戸を開け中に入ると 「いらっしゃいませー！」 めんこいおネエちゃんがハキハキと対応してくれます(#^.^#)
