I Said Sweets Cafè — Restaurant in Saikai

I remember so well about that surprise I had in 2015. When I drove pass the bakery without notice its existence, my wife asked me to turn around and had a look. I hesitated and let my wife be the happy wife.

I went in there and felt like a spoiled kid when I smelt the distinctive scent of the bakery. And my sight were drawn to the rows of cakes and sweets. We ordered the pineapple cake and the pistachio cake, both turned out were the best refreshments during the hot weather in July.

The pineapple cakes was layered with big chunks, the fruity and sour and sweet taste kicked the heat away.

The pistachio one, on the other side, was a well balance of nutty and earthy tone. It wasn’t too sweet. And with the black coffee, it was simply the best moment of the road trip.

However, our tastebuds didn’t allow us to leave until we had the Mont Blanc, a tradition recipe with chestnut paste.

We were there to meet a friend. We could not believe all of the delicious pastries they had on hand. I wish we had more time in the area to try all of the desserts. Well worth a stop, even a u-turn is called for to get a snack. A must go for if you are in the saikai, sasebo,...
