Can be confusing to navigate the place...but the staff were all super helpful, patient, happy, and did their best to speak with us.
2 options when you arrive...place your shoes in an unlocked spot or pay for a locker for your shoes. I believe you get the money back, but not sure. 100 yen for the locker.
Then there's 2 paths to take...one for the restaurant and the other for the spa. The spa entrance is paid for through their vending machine style. Top rows are for adults and bottom section are for kids. Both left to right are for quantity.
Then you go to the reception where they'll brief you on the rules. Here's where the path gets tricky. Basically walk all the way till you get to the locker rooms. Blue for men and Red for women. The lockers take 100 yen that you get back when you unlock it to change.
Get nekkid and shower before you get in! No clothing is allowed. Keep your towels out of the water. And WATCH YOUR STEPS! The ground is uneven and covered in water.
There are certain days when the outside section is either men or women.
Enjoy...
Read moreThe Hoheikyo Hot Springs are amazing. Half the reason I went there was because of a recommendation to check out the attached Indian restaurant! I chose the Chicken Masala Curry at a hot spice level for 980¥ which comes with a regular naan along with a Cheese Naan for 480¥.
Sadly, I was pretty disappointed with this place. The curry lacked the depth and spicy flavors of true Indian curry, as it felt it was heavily adjusted for “Japanese” tastes, much moreso than other Indian restaurants around Japan. I liked the chicken curry though, oddly enough, it reminded me of tomato-sauce. To add insult to injury, the pricey cheese naan had little cheese and no hints of spices as found in most other places and the regular naan was actually… lukewarm. (And no free extra naan servings...)
I cannot recommend this place as there are plenty of other Indian spots all around the country. ONSEN Restaurant might be considered good for Hokkaido, but not...
Read moreCame here for the onsen at around 1050 am on Wednesday and started talking to the staff and they recommend that if we want to eat the curry that we eat before the onsen as it gets very busy. So we entered at 11 when it opens and ordered the tandoori curry hot 980 yen and the limited keema collagen curry hot 900 yen - both come with "world's best naan" Both curries were tasty but nothing really different from other curry shops in Tokyo or in Japan. For a similar price in Tokyo you would also get a salad, drink and all you can eat naan. The place good busy but even after our onsen we could...
