A hidden gem of Shikaoi!! Just south of Furano and a short drive from Kuttari, this quaint little shop is nested at the entrance of a small ranch. We wished we had three stomachs each. Nonethless we managed four pieces of cakes and two beverages between the two of us. The cakes are simply out of this world. I always thought Kobe's strawberry shortcake is the best; but the strawberry shortcake here on the next level. The sponge was soft, moist, and literally melts in your mouth. Fresh cream made from local dairy. And it is topped with a wild strawberry - small, firm, slightly tart. The mousse cake was smooth and delectable. When we came the day before, it was closed. It is in a lovely countryside setting just outside Shikaoi. We got a couple of cakes and ate them out the back while watching the horses eat their grass. Our cakes were definitely a much better option that what the horses were eating that day.
I had a strawberry tart 😋 and my partner had a trifle. The trifle could have done with some jelly to make it more authentic and moisten the cake 🍰 but the strawberry tart was pretty perfect.
