Horaikan — Restaurant in Shinshiro

This place is more like a museum with a cafe inside it, even the staff wear clothes appropriate to the Taisho era (early 1900's). It's like time travel! I come here as often as I can, it's one of the best cafes I've ever been to. The coffee can satisfy anyone all the way up to coffee snobs, they have a range of blends made using a siphon but also basic options. They do lunch and a set menu for brunch (of a surprisingly huge size for the cost), and a range of sweets that really suit the coffee, with some limited time choices.

The building itself has history as the first bank in a pretty huge area, and it's got an exhibit of incredible antiques and artwork. There's a heavy-duty storage building in the car park that you can also go into to see Buddhist statues like the kind you'd see in a museum in Tokyo. I've visited several times and enjoyed the qualities of service as well as the fare itself each time.

The atmosphere created by the setting and the service is relaxed and cozy--perfect for any occasion.

鳳来や愛知県民の森へ紅葉を見た帰りに寄ってみた。

大正時代に建てられた銀行が閉館後、取り壊されるところを、画家であるオーナーさんが買い取ったとの事。

1階が喫茶店、2階はギャラリーで、竹下夢二の絵の展示やオルガンが置いてあり、大ホールの天井やシャンデリアがステキ✨

喫茶店は喫煙席があるのが残念だけど、アールデコ様式のソファや時計、蓄音機、絵画など、アンティークな物がいっぱい飾られている。

金庫だった場所には、雑貨や民芸品のグッズが販売されている。
