Uemura Beyond — Restaurant in Shiraoi

We visited this restaurant based on a recommendation from our hotel. They mentioned that it’s a popular spot among Sapporo residents. We ordered three main dishes, each accompanied by a bite-sized beef sushi and beef stock soup. Both the appetizers were delicious.

The main dishes were a mixed bag. The iron plate steak had a chewy texture that I wasn’t expecting. The hamburger steak was delicious though stronger flavor than I was expecting.

The staff was solo serving the entire restaurant. He provided attentive service and made sure we had everything we needed. Much appreciated. I would visit another time if visiting the area.

The place brags about its freshness and direct supply of beef from its barn. I do find the prices are not quite commensurate with the quality. No doubt they serve good beef, they brag about their meat is from own-cropped black hair wagyu, but the taste doesn’t seem to be black hair wagyu. Most of the restaurants display the wagyu ID number of the wagyu cow/bull they use, but this place doesn’t…. From the wagyu ID number we can find out the actual breed of the cow/bull being used for the beef supply. Is it because they supply their own beef so they aren’t obligated to display the ID? ...

Excellent food and service. It was hard to make a choice between all the beef options available. We were offered a couple of lovely appetisers before our beef on rice was served. The meat was perfectly cooked, juicy and tender - delicious ! Great atmosphere with some Harry Potter items in the decor. Definitely recommend. English...
