キルケゴール — Restaurant in Shizuoka

Firstly some context. We are an Australian couple. This is our fourth trip to Japan, for four weeks walking and exploring. We generally stay in ryokans and try to experience and understand the traditional way. But sometimes we need to break out. Embarrassingly we still speak very little Japanese and we understand less. On the fourth day of a self guided very difficult Tokaido walk after crossing several mountain passes we walked up beside Marika-gawa heading for Chojiya Restaurant as depicted in Hiroshige’s Marika. We discovered a hidden gem, just off the path, in Shizuoka - a charming independent local coffee shop owned and run by a wonderful friendly couple. It was first established as Kierkegaard coffee shop in 1980 and it’s easy to see why they have a strong and loyal local following. We enjoyed the best coffee we have ever had in Japan - full flavoured and perfectly made. And delicious fluffy pancakes with maple syrup. The quality of their offering is superb. ふらっと入ってみました。 飲み物、食べ物共に美味しいです。 天井の高い店内の雰囲気も素敵です。 普通に食事をしましたが、他のお客さんはフルーツもりもりのパフェを頼んでいました。美味しそうでした…。 どうやらここは煮込みハンバーグが人気らしいので、次回はそれにします。

バジリコ(パスタ)は、甘いオニオンが入ったあっさり系でした。 山菜ピラフは、山菜の旨味とバターの香りが食欲をそそります。ピリピリとした辛さがあるので、辛いのが苦手な方はご注意ください。(私も苦手ですが、病みつきになります)

平日はランチもやっているみたいです。

店内の装飾も可愛らしく、見ていて飽きません。 コミックがたくさんあります。 接客も気持ちがいいです。

夕方に伺いました。 懐かしい感じの落ち着いた雰囲気の喫茶店。 常連さんらしき方達で賑わっていました。 カウンターもあってテーブル席が5、6席 ピザトーストと紅茶、コーヒーを注文。 ピザトーストの分厚さにびっくり‼️ お昼ご飯食べすぎていたから 食べれるかな？と思ったけど 美味しかったからかサクッと食べられました。 紅茶のカップやアイスコーヒーの銅のコップも素敵でした。 チェーン店のコーヒー屋さんにはない雰囲気で ゆっくりくつろげました。 気になるメニュー沢山あった...
