Ramen Shop Karikawa Tsubaki — Restaurant in Shonai

On the road between Shinjo and Sakata, you can find this ramen shop in the same location as the Fuusha Ichiba Roadside station. A small-ish ramen shop, it is run by a couple and seats a maximum of about 20. Despite being in kind of the middle of nowhere, during lunch and (to a lesser extent) dinner, this place is busy, with lines stretching out of the door, which should tell you plenty about the quality of the ramen.

My personal recommendation is the Tsukemen, in which the noodles are served to the side of a thick broth for dipping. The basic Tsukemen is great by itself, or you can opt for the Chashu Tsukemen for extra pork or the Negi Chashu Tsukemen, for that to be topped with leeks tossed in a dressing (and is my favorite).

All varieties of the Tsukemen have two bonuses: first, you can choose your size of noodles (small, medium, or large) for the same price. Second, once finished with the noodles, you can get your remaining dipping broth turned into...

年季の入った厨房の釜や寸胴から立ち上る湯気に向かい合う大将の背中、店員さんのキビキビした動き、ここ最近ではなかなか見なくなった昭和の佇まいを残したラーメン屋の名店がここにありました。

開店以来の名物というネギチャーシューメンを注文。

店内が混んでいるものの無駄な動きがないためか提供時間は早い。

シャキっとしたネギにスープによく絡むやわめの細ストレート麺、少し硬めのチャーシューが合う。

ずるずると啜りながら、巨大なレンゲでスープを飲む。うまい。1人で来たので感想を共有する相手はいないが、時折、美味しさに唸ってしまう。

ラーメン王国を支えるのは、こうした市民に愛される店舗を、今日も休まず回してくれる店員さん達だ...

庄内では珍しいラーメンショップ。というか今はここしかないかも。(以前は酒田にもあった) ラーメンショップらしい豚骨醤油ベースの少しコッテリした味わい。県外生活が長かったため全国にあるラーメンショップには大変お世話になっておりましたが、庄内に戻ってからは中々この手の味がなく残念に思ってましたところ発見。 やはり美味しいです。味も毎回安定しています。 ラーメンも美味しいですが、つけ麺も酸味とニンニクが効いたパンチのある味でクセになります。
