We had a really good time here up until it was time to pay. When we made the reservation we were told the price would be ¥6,500 each for the food with drinks extra. The food was good and kept coming, both the chef and the lady serving were very friendly and did great at explaining the dishes (unusually, this place has wifi so Google also helped a lot) as well as a family sitting behind us. The atmosphere was great, very relaxed, in a very Japanese setting (although, it looked like someone nicked the legs of the chairs 😄). We were also introduced to Awamori ginger and it was love at first sight (already bought and polished a bottle). So, after a couple of beers and 5 Awamoris, totalling ¥4,620 and the ¥13,000 for the food = ¥17,620 we were handed a bill for ¥37,000+. Of course we disputed it and after some to and froing with the language barrier we managed to get it down to ¥18,820 because apparently the 7 slices of wild boar were an extra ¥1,200, which of course we weren’t told when it was brought over. And that really left a very bitter aftertaste. This review would’ve easily been 5* hadn’t it been for that. In conclusion, we definitely recommend this place (make sure you reserve beforehand) but do WATCH OUT you don’t get stitched up with the bill.

昨日初めてはてるまさんにお邪魔させていただきました！ コース料理で次から次へと料理が運ばれ、どれも美味しかったです✩ 個人的に西表島の米味噌がかかったラフテーと、釣りたてのカツオ(滅多に食べれないですよね)がコリコリした食感ですごく新鮮で美味しかったです。 〆の豆のおにぎりはちょっと味の濃い焼き魚と一緒に頂くとバランスが取れて、お腹おにぎりもバクバクっと食べちゃいました(´▽`) '` 店主さんも女性の店員さんもすっごく優しくて、私たちが食べるペースを伺って、お声をかけていただいたり、お料理を出していただきました！ すごくおもてなしをしていただいた気分になりました！ 旅行の初日にこんなにいい思いが出来ると思ってなかったので、とても嬉しかったです♡ また是非訪れたいと思いました！

約20年前に来店した事があり、先代のお母様の料理やお店の全てに良き想い出があったので、今回このお店さんに行くのを一番の目的として西表島に行きました！ 旅の予約の前に、先ずは予約出来るのかを確認してから、旅をプラン！ 宿も店主さんのアドバイスをもらい、ご近所さんの民宿を予約。 結果とてもいい西表島の旅となりました。 お料理はお任せ一択ですが、その時に良いものを出してくれます。 お料理の中身も、器や酒器もとても良かったです！ 今日一番のお料理と、波照間島特産の泡盛、泡波を一緒に、、、 そして、我が家的には約20年前に家族で訪れた想い出のお店で、今回は息子も一緒にオリオン生ビールと、泡波を頂く。 とても幸せでした。 ご馳走様でした！

お料理は最早言うまで間も無く、本当に美味しい。 もずく採取から魚まで、漁から料理まで全てこなす波照間にルーツがある店主が切り盛りする言わずと知れた名店。 なかなか予約が取れないので、いつも飛び入りタイプの私は諦めてましたが、ダメ元で電話したら、うーん、いいですよ！との快諾。たまたまキャンセルがあったそう。ギリギリすぎの電話に準備が間に合うかな？と思ったそうですが、まぁなんとかなるだろ精神で入れてもらえました。 本当に美味しかったです。 ご主人のお話も面白く、波照間のご先祖さまの話、最近の海の話、生き物脱皮や農業と月の関係、大潮は漁！(店開けてる場合じゃない笑)など、本当に島に生きるってこう言うことなんだろうな、と思うようなお話をたくさん聞くことができ、とてもいい時間でした。 ご一緒させていただいた他のソロの方々とも帰りになってゆんたくになり、みんなリピーターで笑ってしまいましたが、何から何まで、良い時間でした。 ご主人のお人柄、とても良かったです。グッドバイブス。 また伺います...

いままで行った飲食店で一番うまかった 感動した

こんなこと書いていいかわからないけど 2015月9中頃 一人旅していて どこかのゲストハウス泊まっていたとき 夜　どこも食べるとこあいてなくて ゲストハウススタッフがはてるまに電話してくれた 閉店間際だけどお任せでよかったら だしてくれると しかも2000エン！！！

酒のめないことは予め伝えといたのに

かすかな記憶だけど

観光客のかわいいこ三人 と ゴツメの30代の大将？ が盛り上がっていたっけな

そして地元民がすこし

なんかの付け合せの塩ですら滅茶苦茶うまかったな もずく酢もなんでこんなうまいの？ 嫌いな煮魚もここのはうまい！
