What stop in Sapporo is not complete if you do not visit the Royce Chocolate Factory. Royce Chocolates are legendary in Japan and overseas. I have not many anyone who did not like Royce Chocolates.
The factory is sort of out of town and if I recall, 1 hour drive from the city. Once there, you can roam the factory like a little child. You can see the story of the company and learn how Chacolate is made. There is even a room where you can play games and win a piece of Chacolate as your reward. No one is policing you so you can do so as many times lol.
There is a build your own Chacolate bar which you should do. I cannot tel you how it felt to see my Chacolate bar creation come down the line. It was as if I worked at a factory. You also get to box it yourself.
Make sure to stop by the gift shoppe to purchase as many chocolate bars, truffles, cubes, etc. There are limited items that you can only purchase at the factory. There is also a bakery that you should indulge in. Do not forget to purchase the 150 yen ice cream cone. It...

Inside the factory you will see a cafe and a shop. On the left side you will see the entrance going to the museum and workshop. You need at least 4,000 yen to enter the museum and join the workshop another 1K yen to try their chocolate drink and ice cream. Don't forget to bring extra money for that Royce chocolates!
The experience was fun, but I think the highlight of going to this factory is the chance to buy a cheaper price of Royce products, and a chance to buy limited edition chocolates.
FYI their chocolate drink and ice cream both a must try!

Read moreA factory tour is not guided by an explanatory staff member, but visitors walk through at their own pace according to a route. Therefore, the pre-booked times are only a guide, and you can enter without worrying about a little back and forth. There are lockers behind the shop and space for large bags with a wire key. Both are free of charge. Both adults and children can enjoy this facility as it offers a game-like experience of the various processes. It takes at least one hour, and if you take part in the chocolate-making process, you will need about two hours. If you try all the experiences, you'll have a full half-day of fun... There is a free shuttle bus from Lloydstown station, but considering the waiting time, walking there is likely to make no difference to your arrival (the factory is visible from the station). The shop has a range of bread and alcohol, and of course, factory exclusive products. The shop does not require a reservation and...
