Very delicious Pizza and the great thing is they are open throughout in between lunch and dinner hours so you can alwygrab a good bite and even more take out the pizza depending on how busy they are. So we got the pizzas for late lunch and ate them on our seaview balconies at the next door Sunflower Hotel the only lodging on the island with sea view as it gets a right on the beach. So during rainy time it was still so enjoyable to have a delicious pizza and see the turquoise ocean and also first to notice when the rain is over from there. Many other hotels on the island send their staff to Shimamun to pick up foods for their customers so this says it all. They do not deliver so you have to pick it up. Needless to say it gets crowded because even the locals flock here with their kids so you need to get early if you want to sit in as there are not that many tables. Pasta and salad were delicious too and the nice barista coffee. Other restaurants can be unfriendly but not this place, the main staff lady was very kind and cute and even reminded us to observe the Sunset after the rain as it is rather beautiful. Will definitely do again this combination of Shimamun+ Hotel Sunflower 3rd floor and not...
Read moreI first visited this wonderful little cafe seven years ago, and I'm thrilled to report that the quality hasn't diminished in the slightest. It’s a true testament to their dedication that the same quiet, polite, and incredibly skilled chef is still at the helm. It's an absolute pleasure to watch him work so deftly and efficiently in the kitchen. He's assisted by a couple of others, and dishes arrive at your table without a long wait. The cafe itself is small but incredibly cozy. Knowing it was a Saturday in June, I popped in earlier in the day to reserve a table for 6 PM. When I arrived, I saw that the other three tables were also reserved, clearly indicating that advance booking is a must during peak season. For my meal, I chose the seasonal appetizer assortment, which was a menu recommendation, followed by an anchovy pizza, and for dessert, the cheesecake with orange sauce. Every single dish, from the appetizers to the dessert, was simply superb. The culinary skill is consistently high, and it's truly wonderful to experience such excellence maintained in a small cafe on a less-trafficked island. This place remains a genuine hidden gem!

Read moreCame here to eat with my 4 year old daughter on our first evening in Aharen on recommendation from our guesthouse. We had a nice meal which suited my child, that’s always a plus. We were seated outdoors and somewhat begrudgingly as we didn’t have a reservation. Two of the 3 indoor tables had reserved sings and only one was occupied.
We came back the next evening just as they opened and were completely empty and were flat out turned away. My kid is neither loud nor messy, so we had not been unpleasant guests… but perhaps we didn’t consume alcohol or whatever the reason. It was in poor taste and with a rather unwelcoming attitude.
There’s another review here to this effect, so we are not an exception I take it. Whatever their reason is for accepting some customers and refusing others is not clear. But in the off season, with all of a dozen people in the town, a lack of space is...
