This is an upscale and awesome place at which to enjoy your dinner in a setting of a Meiji period garden as this is exactly where Ukai Toriyama is located, in the serene outskirt of Tokyo near where the Takao-san aka ้ซ˜ๅฐพๅฑฑ (Takao Mountain) is located. This place offers a tranquil and dream-like, secret garden environment where you enjoy an evening out enjoying your dinners with your loved ones. Here, you'll find mini water-falls, wooden bridges linking all the dining houses in a lake where there are fireflies to be found at night, to a very traditional Japanese cuisine based on freshly marinated, on-demand preparation of chicken meat for you and your friends or fam members to grill over a special charcoal stove with Ukai's secret, in-house sauce which you can actually purchase at the reception area. This restaurant comes highly recommended for dinner instead of lunch for the obvious late evening ambience you'll no doubt enjoy. You can expected to be treated by your host with typical Japanese hospitality! However, to avoid disappointment, your anticipated trip here entails a 2-month long reservation wait list and diners are expected to dress formally for the ocassion.

There is a mini museum just in front of the reception house which diners are encouraged to pay a short visit.

If you are planning to come over after your hiking trip to Takao-san, please take note that there is a free, 5-minute ride on a comfortable mini coach directly right at the parking area of the Takao station, all the way to Ukai Toriyama.

Rating : 5/5! A not to be missed place to dine with an awesome...

This is a 10/10. I know Yelp does 5 stars and I've given a lot of 5 stars before but this place is absolutely one of the best restaurants/experiences I've ever had.

Long story short we went up to Mt Takao for the day and decided to go here for lunch on the recommendation of a friend. As we arrived by Car (also accessible by metro/taxi when you arrive at the train station) and were warmly greeted and directed by their parking staff. We get out of the car and a hostess is there ready to guide us to the main front reception area where we are taken for registration. (we reserved 2 weeks in advance) The front reception is a moderate sized house that is part of a little village of houses, stream, nature and other amazing sights (see the photos). You are taken to your own little house in the "village" where they sit and serve you dinner/lunch.

The service was absolutely the best in the world. The food absolutely the best and the ambiance was amazing. It is so beautiful in this little village that you feel apart from the busy life of Tokyo.

Check the photos and definitely plan on visiting if...

This traditional Japanese restaurant is amazing. If you plan on climbing Mt. Takao, make reservations here, before or after you leave. The service impeccable the food delicious, smart, and beautiful. We had a private dining room with a koi pond right outside the space. Our waitress waited on us hand hand foo, explaining each course and dis not miss a beat between courses. I had the chicken set with the little fried fish. The chicken is grilled for you. The dining space is tatami mats and lacquer furniture. Small pieces of art are there as well. Our dining area could hold 4 people. The bathroom is lovely, therer are sanitary napkins, mouthwash, q-tips to help yourself. Perfect dining experience ๐Ÿคœ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿค›๐Ÿฝ

This is my second time here. The barbecue beef is always and simply divine. The scenery is great. I always take a lot of beautiful photos. There is one negative thing I encountered though. The real chef has arrived and cooked the beef which was perfect. But the waiter/trainee cooked the chicken and it is raw inside and charcoal-burn outside. He was not ready at all to cook the chicken at all. On a second thought, when he asked us whether he could cook it for us, we should have said no to him. But then, why canโ€™t the real chef control the situation if he saw that the chicken was burn and raw and not edible.
