Bon-appetit — Restaurant in Tottori

Bon-appetit is definitely a hidden gem not far from Tottori Sand Dunes. We discovered this great restaurant via google reviews (thanks for other google reviewers!!).

It is a small french restaurant in a cute tiny house with only 6 table which can only serve 14-16 customers. It is in the middle of nowhere in a quiet residential area, you have to drive to get there.

The restaurant is run by a Japanese couple who don't speak English (the husband cooks and the wife serves the tables). You can tell this restaurant mainly serves local people and we (tourists who don't read and speak Japanese) were just in good luck to discover this great place.

Bon-appetit serves Japanese-style french / western cuisine. All food, from soup to dessert, was just great and we enjoyed all our dishes. Bread was served hot and crispy -- from this minor issue, you can tell how serious the chef treats his food. The menu was written in Japanese. Although we don't read Japanese, we simply picked the most expensive lunch set lunch (1,620 yen which includes soup, bread, starter, main course, dessert plate with 4 types of desserts and coffee/tea -- I would say the owner should have increased the set menu price by at least 50%!) so that we could try as many dish as possible. Our meals were just prefect - lucky day!

**Just a friendly reminder that most Japanese are quiet eaters and they care about table manner. Please mind your manner and keep your voice as soft as possible. In Japan, it is important to give restaurant owners a good impression. Otherwise, those great restaurants may refuse to serve...

教えたくない位に美味しい！隠れ家的な本格フレンチレストラン。

コロナ対策として、入り口に手指消毒スプレー。席の換気は分かりませんが、入り口脇のキッチンでは換気扇が回してありました。テーブルの仕切りは無くて、皆、食事中ではマスク無しでの小声でおしゃべりしていたのが、気になりました。

地元鳥取の食材にごだわる住宅地に小さな本格フレンチレストランです。店内は20名は入らないほどの小さな規模ですので、出来たら予約する方が無難です。品の良いマダムのお洒落なランチで毎日混み合います。元喫茶店の場所でその時の椅子テーブルを活用しているので、お料理のグレードの割にチープ感ありますが、そのぶん価格帯はお手頃です。

普段はランチでお邪魔してます。ランチは気取らないフレンチですが、夜はコースで本格フレンチを楽しめます。

個人的意見ですが、此所のキッシュは太鼓判です。それまでキッシュは苦手でなるべく避けていたのですが、此所のキッシュを食べてからキッシュ好きになりました。他のキッシュじゃ満足出来ません(笑)予約すればキッシュの持ち帰りも出来ますよ♥️
