Wakkanai Ramen — Restaurant in Wakkanai

Wakkanai Ramen is a small, family-run shop that serves a variety of food and, of course, ramen. I opted for their Wakkanai Ramen for 1800￥.

While that sounds a bit pricey, it was an overflowing, hilariously huge bowl, full of Chinese style veggies, fresh uni (urchin), crab, 2 kinds of scallops, red clams, clams, octopus, and shrimp, all in a light salt broth. Though the chashu and home-made noodles were simple, the rest of the seafood was, as expected of a port town, fresh and delicious. The light shio broth was a good idea to better taste all the ingredients.

I may not give it points for originality, but the value...

結論から先に。「今まで人生で最低評価のラーメン」「今後もし稚内に来ることがあったとしてもこの店にだけは絶対に入らない。」「むしろ今後稚内に来たくなくなるくらいの衝撃」「セコマでカップ麺とおにぎり買う方がマシ。」

行こうと思っていた店に入れず、近くで駐車場が空いていた店に適当に入ったのが大失敗。平日のお昼時にクルマが１台だけ。この時点でやめておけばよかったと後悔。

「おすすめ」と書かれたネギラーメン。単品で1385円。高い！ 総じてほかのメニューも強気な値段。もしかして地元民は半額とかなのだろうかと思う金額。かけそば１１８０円ってどんな品が出てくるのだろうか。

着丼してさらに驚愕。商品名「ネギラーメン」なのに、薬味にしても少ない細切れのネギが数えられるほど「浮いている」だけ。 その他の具材もミニサイズ。真っ黒で見るからにしょっぱそうなスープに麺はすべて沈み、影しか見えない。量は極少。３回か４回箸を持ち上げれば終わり。

これで「グーグル・食べログに評価をお願いいたします」とメニューに載せる神経が分からない。以下同行の家族の一言評価。 「自分なら恥ずかしくて金取れない、そもそも出せない」 「一回しか来ない観光客がターゲットなんじゃない」 稚内という街に二度と行きたくなく...
