The staff here are very helpful and friendly, offering recommendations based on taste and preferences. They do not just try to sell the most expensive product, but actually recommend products that have good cost performance and taste good. This cafe/ tea store serves as a middleman between farmers to consumers. The tea sold here are from various farmers, and the farmers dictate the price for the goods, hence the price differentials between different brands. Free sampling of various teas are available upon request and E-bike rental is available for 2500 yen a bike. Buying tea here is recommended as it is more affordable than buying in the cities, on top of offering a superior product. They speak English and Japanese here, so if you're in Wazuka, do stop by!

The best shop in the area! The people here were so kind and helpful. We rented e-bikes here and had a lot of fun exploring. There was a downpour and when we got back they brought some towels for us to dry off. They also tried to help us call a taxi when our scheduled one didn't go through. We were on a day trip for my partner's birthday and when they found out they gave him a pretty little cloth pouch as a gift which was sooo nice. The snack and food options there are also delicious! I have recommended visiting Wazuka and especially this cafe to all of my friends :)

Great place to get your single origin Uji matcha, sencha, gyokuro, etc. If you have managed to get here to buy and explore Wazuka by yourself, best to get a local guide to show you around the tea farms, itโ€™s rich history, and what makes Uji green tea stands above all else. I made a mistake thinking I can explore Wazuka on my own. Good thing I saw a poster in the cafe contact about the details of the local guide. A bit expensive but totally worth it.

Note for travelers! The main bike loop from the Cafe is closed. As a result, our ride was a little more commercial and intense in competing with highway and service road vehicles. Maybe not all riders would mind this. If youโ€™re hoping to bike through tea fields in ~March/April โ€˜25, see if you can confirm if the loop has reopened. We didnโ€™t think to check. Would recommend messaging the cafe prior using a translation app if you donโ€™t speak Japanese. Also note the tea fields map provided at the Cafe is in Japanese only, which made it tough to explore / evaluate other potential routes. All to say, plan ahead with some research if youโ€™re hoping to enjoy this day trip from Kyoto or Osaka.

That aside, the cafe was terrific. Sweet staff, great tea-related gifts, and a truly tasty menu. Matcha noodles, Japanese citron with houijcha, and salted milk ice cream made for a gratifying meal at the end of a...
