This cafe was pretty far outside the city in a suburban neighborhood and a little bit of a walk but very much worth it!

Tanaka who runs the cafe alone is open crazy hours from 6am to 3am so you can make time no matter even if you're in Osaka only for a day. AND YOU SHOULD! The experience is amazing and he will tell you the history of his craft as well as the history of the items in his shop from the beautiful French and Japanese cups to the tube sound system (amazing Aretha Franklin Jazz songs playing). He is very knowledgeable all of it.

We had the 3 courses, the first was a cup of coffee made with his signature brewing method with the three hour brew time made prior. The coffee is undoubatly strong but smooth until the end. The second cup he made while we were in the shop and it took about 50 minutes. It did not feel that long though as we spoke the whole time. The method is very detailed and slow but worth it for the cup after. Surprisingly sweet as well with his blend if beans.

However, what will truly blow you away is the 23 year old coffee he has aged in a barrel. The coffee is AMAZING. I have never tasted anything like it before. It is sweet and takes on the taste of the original alcohol that was created in the barrel with a strong undertones of blueberries. Even the smell is quite sweet and fragrant. There really are not words to describe it fully.

If you visit Osaka you need to visit this cafe and make sure you get all three courses of coffee. Great coffee, great experience, amazing host, and impeccable first class customer service. Tanaka San even drove us back to the train station after because it...

The munch really is one coffee cafe not to be missed! It definitely deserves its legendary status.

Entering into the cafe, Tanaka san, the owner of the cafe carefully explains his menu and i chose the mandehling demitasse coffee (50 min wait which you get to watch), aged strong coffee (15 to 20 mins) and cheese cake.

He was kind enough to show me the different articles featuring the munch and it was really interesting to see how tanaka san came up with his unique and artistic way of working with coffee whilst waiting for the coffee.

First came the aged coffee with the cheese cake. The cake had an almost ice cream cake like texture and paired with aged coffee was an amazing pairing. The coffee was mindblowingly complex and it was a coffee i have never tasted before nor could i imagine coffee having that taste. For those who watched worth it‘s video, they werent kidding that there was a strong chocolatiness to it. Not only that it had a slight initial soy sauce taste that evolved into this thick mature chocolate taste that was so smooth and complex you would be in awe of it.

The demitasse was similar to the aged coffee but even more delicate and nuanced.

Tanaka san’s coffee truly are to enjoy and not just for drinking. If you are someone who loves to explore coffee and the different experiences it has to offer. The munch is a must come. You will truly be immersed in tanaka san’s...

A tiny but precious hidden gem, a small private coffee shop run by a legendary veteran coffee maker. The spot is fitted with five small tables, able to house no more than 15 patrons at a time.

When we arrived, there was only one fancy but quiet visitor from Hiroshima who specifically came to Osaka just to venture into this coffee shop.

Get ready to get startled as the price for one tea spoon of this coffee is 2,500 Yen (not a typo), we are talking of one tea spoon of drinkable coffee, not a tea spoon of coffee powder. As for the tiny glass of coffee, I’d rather you yourself get surprised when life allows you to visit this place someday.

Taste-wise, a tiny bit of bitter mingled with a tint of sweetness yet rich of flavor that lasts briefly and memorably even after I left the shop. This is the drip of coffee that you have to have a short quiet moment for yourself to reminisce all the coffees that you have experienced throughout your entire life from all parts of the world and this very moment enables you to gauge how indescribable tasteful this coffee is, and the final moment of it grants you a soothing mind of appreciation towards your life and the senses you have been...
