We popped in on the off chance today. Was greeted immediately with a smile by a staff member & over all found all the staff very welcoming & attentive. I had a beef roast dinner & it was absolutely delicious. Complements to the chef. For dessert I had the rhubarb & apple crumble with vanilla custard, it was ok but nothing to rave about. The only reason I’m giving 4 starts instead of 5 is because there was to many dogs in the pub. One barking at high pitch, another took a huge dump in the outdoor area unfortunately in view of our table, the smell then whiffed through the open doors with the gentle breeze & it absolutely stank, it was completely off putting before eating. Then another one came sniffing around our table whilst we were eating. I don’t blame the staff I blame the owners. Unfortunately It will make me think twice about eating here again although hasn’t put me off completely because the food & staff were so...

I was unfortunate enough to try to have lunch here today. I can't comment on the food, as I left before ordering as the waiter was remarkably rude.

When I arrived, I didn't see the small sign on the edge of the bar, saying to wait to be seated, so I looked around for a table. The waiter then said to me,

"Did you miss the sign, or do you just want to wander around?"

Despite being somewhat shocked, I explained that I had missed the sign and that I was looking for a table for 2 for lunch. He waved in the general direction of some tables, whilst turning to his colleague and saying something derogatory about me and my partner, then laughing. He clearly didn't realise he was also looking into a mirror!

This is the only Liberation pub I have been in which offered such a disagreeable welcome, and never have I experienced such a hostile, impertinent, gum-chewing waiter.

I cannot recommend this...

The food was amazing. The pie of the day was chicken and mushroom and was packed from to to bottom. Proper pastry all the way round too! The burger and sticky toffee pudding were probably the best I've tasted in a long while and the thick chips were phenomenal! We booked a table as it was our first visit to this pub and didn't know how busy it would be on a Thursday night. It's a large pub and the bar area was full (bingo was at 8pm) but we were seated in another area which was slightly screened from the drinking area. A lovely pub with very attentive and friendly staff - we even spoke to the chef through the service pass as he ended his shift! We will come back again. EDIT: came back in June with family. Another fabulous meal (I had half chicken, chips and salad from specials and hubby had pie again - it was beef this time!). Booking was easy online - did...

All in all a good meal. It was a Monday night and the place only had a handful of people in it. To start, a simple cauliflower soup, I say simple but boy it was lovely and smooth and packed full of flavour followed by Barnsley lamb chop. Personally I would have liked it just a bit more on the pink side, but still very tasty. Noting that restaurants/ pubs have only just re opened i think the staff need to know the menu a little better and to be able to advise on what can and can't be eaten by people with special dietary requests. But they were really friendly and welcoming, hats of to you for that. I place I will go back to, esp as I want to try the ham hock.
