Planned my proposal at Corbiere Phare... phoned them from the UK after booking online to advise them of my plans and to see what engagement packages they had. Ewalina said they didn't as a restaurant but she can make all the arrangements for me depending on what i wanted. Naturally...I said balloons, flowers, music, champagne, the lot. She said to leave it with her. We continued making arrangements via whatsapp until the day.
When i turned up, there was a huge mishap....they got the date wrong! They made all the arrangements for a week later. After a little chat with the Ewalina and the owner, Ewalina said to leave it with her she will make sure its all special etc and for me to just enjoy and not stress at all. We enjoyed starters, the main course (I ordered the steak which was AMAZING) and many drinks to try and calm my nerves (it didnt help lol).
We went for a walk, I proposed on the green which overlooks the lighthouse with a sunset backdrop (of course she said yes!). As we walked back...they had music playing that i had requested (Dreams by Gabrielle as that is one of her faves), they had good champagne, sparklers, about 50 red roses on the table (in a vase and scattered), balloons everywhere, and a platter of desserts for us. I was absolutely gobsmacked by what they managed to do for me in that time. To top it all off, they said the entire evening was ON THE HOUSE!!! I honestly didn't expect that but I really appreciated the huge gesture! They wouldn't even take a tip from me, and even offered to pay for the transport back to the hotel if needed (which i declined as they had done more than enough!l
All in all I booked this place on recommendation for one of the most important events in my life, and overall i am so glad I did.
We even went back a few days later for food and drinks, and left a tip to say thanks again.
Thank you Ewalina and thank you...
Read moreWhen we arrived we were told quite angrily not to sit at a specific table as it was reserved so we were shown and accepted the table next to it. The reserved table lay empty and without a sign while we were there. My partner was asked twice by another member of staff again angrily if he was sure we had been given the table we sitting on. We waited to be served and when this didnât happen I went to the bar where I was told by a third member of staff the reasons why I shouldnât have asked for a skinny latte in the establishment as they werenât a cafe, they were a restaurant. I took part of my order to the table and then returned to the bar for the ânormalâ latte, as it was described to me, and to pay for the bill, where I was told by the first member of staff, âseeing as you have your drinks already, you can order your food here nowâ. When I said we wouldnât be ordering food she shouted âthen you canât seat there, youâll have to move outside to the patio areaâ. I said I already had drinks at the table so that wouldnât be happening now. She then turned to the third member of staff and spoke in Portuguese in front of me. I paid for my drinks and sat down. 10mins later the second member of staff came up to us and bellowed that we couldnât sit where we were and facing my partner said âwhy did you tell me you were seated here?â I said to him that we were seated here and that if there was a problem, we should have been told from the start. I asked to speak to the manager as he was very aggressive and he said that he was the manger. We drank up and left. Honestly, the staff were beyond rude, they need to treat customers without agreesion and with respect or they will lose custom. What a pity because the view is...
Read moreMy Wife, Daughter, her boyfriend and myself recently visited Jersey for our Daughters surprise Birthday as we are regular visitors to the island. On Friday 10th July we all visited Corbiere for a day out and on a very hot afternoon decided to visit Corbiere Phare for some refreshments, there was a small group of people at the piano bar, a family seated at a table and ourselves. Everyone was watching Wimbledon tennis when a man came along unannounced and changed channel on the television, it was then a young chap said they were watching tennis and could he switch back the channel. What followed was an embarrassing torrent of offensive bad language from what turned out to be the owner and at a level which could be clearly heard by everyone in the bar. After a polite retort from the first man things became worse, the owner started shouting he owned the fg building and he paid the fg bills and owned the TV so he could watch what he wanted, which turned out to be a horse race that he had a bet on. When he was told that he would not be visiting the Corbiere Phare again the owner said that was his choice and I donât f*g c are. Then the race finished, he walked off contented with the remote control in his hand, and there was an awkward silence, people started to naturally leave, including ourselves and the bar was soon empty. Although the place is fine and we had a nice drink we will not be visiting Corbiere...
