The main attraction of dining at La Braye it's its picturesque location and outdoor dining, and we've been doing exactly that for many years. However today, of of the blue, we've been told by the manager that we can't have any food outside because the owner decided so following a rain in the morning (we then got told an irrelevant story of how much money they lost having had to refund food etc). We just wanted to order food and have it outside on this nice, now sunny day, yet we've been only offered a table inside (well, if we wanted to dine indoors we wouldn't have come out to the edge of the ocean for that). We've even been told that once we had our food arrived inside we would carry the plates with the food out, they wouldn't be able to stop us, but they can't serve us outside like they did for every other time because of the reasons. We even said that we just pay upfront and waive any refund claims that they are supposedly so afraid about, yet we've been met with strong resistance. Asked to speak to the owner we've been told that the lady is not present, and they don't want to go against her orders, despite suggesting an walk-out with food option. Disgruntled and hungry we left the premises,...
Read moreBeen going here for years and I really enjoy the food, its right up there in Jersey when it comes to cafés and restaurants. The location is incredible, the decor and vibe is usually fantastic and the quality and range of food is awesome. The breakfast pancakes are the best on the island by some way, the espatada for lunch or dinner is delicious and the specials are beautiful. The cons are small but frustrating, the prices are pretty high, unnecessarily so. Its pretty frustrating and fits in with a lot of jersey where you just feel your being ripped off a bit, it's not massively over priced, but it's enough to mean I don't go as regularly as I'd like and taints the enjoyment a bit when I do. Prices don't need to be as high as that.
The only other con is the manager, he's a middle aged guy who always seems a bit grumpy, no idea why as he always seems a bit dour and has no real warmth or friendliness to him, its not a massive problem but just seems a bit of a shame.
Overall its a cracking wee spot for food, recommend it as long as you're willing to spend a...
Read moreWe stopped by Le Braye Café several times during our day walking in Jersey. Firstly for a coffee when walking from La Corbière and then on our way back for lunch.
It was a Monday in late March, but the place was packed, which showed that it clearly drew in a good crowd even on a Monday. The coffee was very nice, and it was lovely to sit out in the Spring sunshine and enjoy it. When we returned for lunch, we just wanted something light, so we shared the Prawn Tacos with Sweet Potato Fries. They were perfect to share, and were packed full of flavour. The Sweet Potato Fries were also some of the best I’ve ever had! I would say that the prices are fair for the quality of the food, but it was on the higher side for lunch.
It was a great spot for a drink and lunch, and I would certainly return again in the future. I would highly recommend if you’re looking for a great lunch with a beautiful view...
