I recently visited the Islamic Chinese Restaurant in Jordan, and my experience was a mix of highs and lows. Here’s a detailed review of my visit:
Atmosphere and Ambiance
The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a touch of traditional Chinese decor. The open kitchen, where noodles are made in front of you, adds an interesting and engaging element to the dining experience. Watching the chefs expertly prepare the noodles was a highlight and added a sense of authenticity to the meal.
The Food Experience
The menu offers a variety of Chinese dishes, with a particular emphasis on noodles and dumplings. Here are my thoughts on the dishes I tried:
Noodles: I ordered the thin noodles, expecting a delicate and easy-to-eat dish. However, the noodles were quite thick and somewhat hard to chew, indicating they needed more cooking time. The texture is removed from the overall enjoyment of the dish. Additionally, the amount of meat in the noodles was disappointingly small, almost to the point of being unnoticeable. This imbalance left the dish lacking in flavor and substance.
Dumplings: The dumplings, on the other hand, were a pleasant surprise. They were well-prepared, with a nice balance of filling and wrapper. The flavors were good, and they were cooked to perfection. These were definitely a standout item on the menu.
Service and Hospitality
One of the best aspects of the Islamic Chinese Restaurant is the owner. His hospitality and courteous nature truly enhanced the dining experience. He was attentive, polite, and clearly takes pride in his establishment. His positive demeanor and excellent customer service were appreciated and made a significant difference in my overall impression of the restaurant.
Conclusion
The Islamic Chinese Restaurant in Jordan offers a mixed dining experience. The noodles, despite being made fresh in front of you, did not meet my expectations due to their thick texture and insufficient cooking. Additionally, the scarcity of meat in the noodle dishes was a downside. However, the dumplings were a highlight, showcasing the potential for great food here. The standout feature of the restaurant is undoubtedly the owner, whose sophistication and good manners create a welcoming environment.
Overall, I would rate my experience 3 out of 5 stars. While there are areas that need improvement, particularly in the preparation of the noodles, the restaurant has some strong points, especially in terms of customer service and...
Read moreLocated in a small space inside Majdi Mall of Jubeiha in Amman, lies the Islamic Chinese restaurant. Prior to dining here, I have heard positive raves about it being an authentic Chinese restaurant mostly known for its home-made freshly made hand pulled noodles.
Menu is extensive and can take awhile if one is indecisive on what to eat. The menu is available in a physical booklet or plastered on their wall. Also, on Google Maps.
The portions are HUGE for very reasonable prices. Suitable for sharing or if you love big portions, it’s a good quantity for the price. There are options for vegetarians and vegans. As someone who loves spicy food and didn’t like the lack of “spicy” in some Chinese restaurants in Jordan, this place definitely meets the definition of spicy! One can request for the dish to be made less spicy upon order. There is a jar of dried chilli on the side to make one’s dish more spicier. Other than fulfilling the minimum spicy level, food tasted good. Can see myself coming back here again!
It is self-service and cash only. One would need to order and pay before receiving dishes. And then pick up your food from the counter.
One con is that the chairs were uncomfortable to sit on...
Read moreI will start by saying I am so glad they have an Egyptian waiter now. This will elevate their customer service very greatly and they desperately need that!
To put things very simply their food is not the traditional soy sauce drenched fried noodles we as Jordanians perceive as chinese food. I don't think people realize how big China is and how many different provinces and cuisines there is in China.
This restaurant is my frenemie. I had some of the best and also some of the worst experiences with food here. Now mind you I've been coming here since 2018 and fair warning as Arabs we mostly know noodles as the dry pasta we make for spaghetti and overcook. So alot of people will have a problem with their handmade noodles. But as Allah is my witness, in the 8 years i have been coming here I never received noodles that were not made-to-order.
Their hot pot is top notch, best of the...
