We stayed at the camp next door and ate every meal at Gogra. Unfortunately, one woman at the front was very rude to us. She only spoke Russian (no Kazakh or English) and wore a checkered blazer acting like she was more important than the other staff. When we asked for a table inside she refused despite another lady offering to sit us in the restaurant (which was obviously not full). Her attitude was also unprofessional and demeaning when we attempted communicate with her including correcting us to Russian when we thanked her in Kazakh. Some of the food was excellent and all the other staff were amazing. Particularly there was a younger lady who had braces who spoke great English and the male manager(?) with glasses was very friendly...
Read moreWe attended a brunch post Yelena & Sanjay's wedding on Sunday, 20 April 2025. From the location, to service, atmosphere and selection of food and drinks offering, we were absolutely spoilt. Food offerings from vegetarian appetizers to mains were simple fresh, delicious and very moorish. The decor was just amazing. Staff were attentive and courteous. It is a perfect place to hold a private get together or meet up for drinks and meals with family and friends. It's on our list to visit again if we return to Almaty. Thanks Gogra. Read moreFirst time giving a 1-star review — and it’s deserved. Despite the nice view, the service was terrible. The manager ignored us, refused to take our order, and most of the time stayed glued to her phone. The service staff spoke almost no English and didn’t understand our order, even when we showed them pictures. Food took nearly an hour, the bill another 20 minutes. The trout was overcooked, the pike overly salty, and only the Khachapuri was edible. Nothing like the pictures....
