Finding this place using Google maps can be Difficult as the route takes you through plots of land that have been fenced off by private owners. However, the people we met on the road were very friendly and gave us directions. Possibly the signage could improve. However, it is worth all the hustle. The restaurant is built on the beach so leave your shoes at home. Call the Number listed in Google to make a booking. Arrive early as they close the kitchen by 3pm. We made a booking but arrived late so we found the kitchen closed. However, the hosts were kind enough to wait for us and keep the pizza oven opened so we were able to have a selection and they were excellent! Drinks are available at reasonable prices. The staff were welcoming. There were no extra / hidden charges. We were here on Christmas Eve and surprisingly the beach was quite empty. It was low tide and the sea shore had receded. Sun beds and makuti bandas are available for relaxing. The beach is clean. There is a shower and changing room available for use after swimming in the ocean. Overall the experience was good. We hope to return again early enough (mid morning) to be able to have a proper meal.

Malaika Beach Restaurant is a very Italian place, with the owner and most of the clientele unmistakably originating from that south European country. The setting is quite simple and informal. The restaurant is a tent with big windows, pitched straight on the beach. In other words, take off your sandals, and let the sand massage your toes! For a first time visitor, there is no point reading the menu: Just go for the seafood pasta with lobster. It is unbeatable! The wine list is neither expensive nor expansive, but this is not a fine dining place either. Unpretentious, and a perfect place for a long, lazy lunch!

The food here was amazing as shown in the pictures which was the seafood tagliatelle and octopuses. I would definitely recommend these if you come here. Along with the food, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Also the beach location is brilliant with white sands and blue water. If you are staying in or around malindi I definitely recommend giving this place a visit.

This place was good at the beginning. The waiter came to us and said the owner was offering free beds if we order lunch. And he told the prices for the drinks. But later the owner embarrassed me by asking if I am single and he wanted my number. I called my man not to get harassed by him. Later when we wanted to pay the waiter brought the bill including a fee of 500 per bed despite we had lunch for 8 people. They added more drinks on the bill and suddenly the prices for coke and sodas was higher than he told at the beginning. After a long discussion they removed the Sunbeds and the drinks we did not have but the higher prices for the drinks remained. We were not happy about that behaviour and will avoid this...
