Great initiative and perhaps a very useful coffee growers hub. Unfortunately, the coffee was the worst I had in Laos (and I tried all of their four varieties). The tasting was poorly presented and the beverages luke warm. A trained barista and proper equipment could probably turn some of the coffee into great tasting brews. Perhaps the fault is also in lack of quality control and training down the line ... I am just thinking about all the effort and knowledge Saffron in Luang Prabang put into producing and crafting world-class coffee. As for the actual cafe it is poorly furnished, largely consisting of a table overlooking the dusty building site of a road. No garden or potter plants to speak of, no artwork. The menu is uninspired. The pancakes that we ordered were still runny inside. Overall I really hoped this place to be great in this drab little township, but it simply didn’t come close to any of the many other cafes and roaster I love in Laos.

Im not a big fan of black coffee but at this place I had the best black coffee in my life. Never expected that coffee could have such a amazing taste. Normally I’m a cappuccino or flat white drinker, cos black coffee is to strong for me, I didn’t like the taste. I had the caturra type and this was an amazing experience for me, taste was so smooth and delicious, like a tea. So that is the first black coffee I could drink pure and I loved it. I tasted also two other different coffee’s. The owner is very friendly and gave us some explanation about the coffee and let us try the different variations. The way he prepares the coffee its amazing it looks like he is a coffee scientists ;)) The place is very beautiful and nice decorated, everything was made by hand from the owner.

Just simply amazing coffee. When the owner recommends you and help you make your choice. You can see by the sparkles in his eyes that coffee is really his passion and you understand that he has been trying to find the best way to grow, roast, blend and serve the best coffee. He made us discover coffee without, the heavy 'burnt' flavor that we all associate with it. So that we were able to distinguish the floral notes. Great experience, great coffee. They also sell grains etc.
