TL;DR: Poor service, small portions for the price. Almost ruined the meal experience.
The café was likely busier than usual for a Sunday. When we arrived and sat down, there was no staff in sight. You have to ring a bell, like at a reception desk, to get someone’s attention. It felt more like a takeaway spot or kiosk than a proper café.
The interior has some odd design choices, like a tree in the middle with its branches leaning in all directions—quite strange.
I ordered a kebab box and asked the waitress to leave out the cheese and onions, and to put the sauces on the side. Unfortunately, it came with everything as per the standard recipe. I didn’t have time to argue since I was in a rush to catch a bus, so I just picked out the cheese and ate what I could. The meal was tasty and well-presented but overpriced for the portion size.
The waitress seemed overwhelmed, trying to manage everything at once. Several customers walked out because they were frustrated by the slow service, and she was busy with tasks like changing beer barrels. I can’t really blame her for the situation. There was also a woman in a green blouse, possibly the manager, who seemed to notice the waitress struggling but didn’t step in to help. If they want the place to succeed, they should address this.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this café and I won't...
Read moreToo long waiting time; the waitress told us we will have to wait 30 mins; when we arrived for the food, turned out they hadn't made one of the kebabs at all because they didn't have the ingredients. The other kebab that they did make was below average taste-wise, and the price was not adequate for such a kebab and such a small town (the average salary is far below that of Rīga). I wish them the best as it is very hard (and appreciated) to run catering business and keep such long opening hours in Aizkraukle but they have to improve the service and quality vs. price of the food. Maybe the solution is to make the menu 5x shorter...
