Jelgava’s hidden gem.

The restaurant: Finally, a standout brewery-restaurant combo in Latvia! Fresh seasonal food, modern Latvian, and not at all pretentious. A huge array of house-brewed draft beers. A well thought out menu that allows the ingredients to speak for themselves. I was very happy with the pan-fried Zander fillet served with quinoa and carrot-orange purée.

While in Jelgava for a gig, I also dropped in and tried their lunch special. The price was great and I was very impressed with the quality.

The restaurant was busy and full of locals both times I visited. The decor was modern and also featured traditional Latvian “puzuri” (geometric hanging structures). They also have music and events from time to time.

The icing on the cake for me was the brilliant service - attentive and friendly. This tends to be a rarity in Latvia at the moment.

Definitely worth the 15 minute walk from Jelgava city centre!

The beer: Latvia is full of unique local craft beers. Viedi definitely makes some of the most accessible beers for drinkers who perhaps aren’t used to some of the very intense beers other craft brewers create. The brewery has nice range of sours, lagers, ales and dark beers at great prices, with takeaway...

We had the absolute pleasure of celebrating a small family wedding at Viedi in the quiet and charming Cukurfabrika district of Jelgava, and everything was simply perfect from start to finish. The reservation process was smooth and stress-free, and the warm welcome we received set the tone for a wonderful evening.

The staff were exceptionally friendly, professional, and attentive to every detail, making sure our special occasion felt truly cared for. The atmosphere was classy yet comfortable, with a great mix of people that made the place feel lively but never noisy.

The food was outstanding — every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor, well worth its price. The drinks and cocktails were gorgeous, crafted with care and style. Even the beer was excellent, fresh and full of taste — definitely a highlight for beer lovers.

It’s the kind of place I can highly recommend to both travelers and locals alike, whether you’re looking for a romantic dinner, a casual drink, or a celebration with loved ones. For us, it was the perfect venue to make our family wedding day feel easy, joyful, and unforgettable.

Perfect place! Will definatly go there again! Amazing service, very polite and professional servers! Atmosphere is so cozy. We sat oustide, so we dont know how it looks inside, but definatly felt cozy. Huge beer choise. Food was amazing! I had chicken on a stick. Ate till last bit (and the portion was so big).
