I can’t say enough AMAZING things about this gem of a resturant. I went for both breakfast and lunch twice on different days. I called super last minute & was able to book both and met with kindness from every single person who worked there from the moment I got there.
Since I booked late, I was seated on the third level which really is just as beautiful! So if you can’t sit at the below tables don’t worry about it:) You have to walk Down a few stairs to get into the water but as a solo diner, I was happy and grateful just to get a table during their busy season and watch the beautiful energy happening below me.
I ordered local wine which was delicious. It was so hot and I swear as soon as an ice cube melted…I swear Abed and the lovely team Of guys taking care of me that day were there to refill it. This isn’t a place to go if you don’t have time not because the service is slow but because it’s meant to be enjoyed all day long. You arrive to your table, order your food and then set a time to eat. Which I absolutely loved. I arrived at 1, got rose then ordered my lunch for 3pm because I picked out a gorgeous fresh fish that would be cooked for me specifically. So I took my wine down to the sun lounger to relax and swim. There isn’t an extra cost for them (although it’s first come first serve) and they provide you with a Towel should you ask. Which is a fantastic touch.
Now onto the food. Everything I tried for both lunch and breakfast was phenomenal. As an american tourist, I found it very reasonably priced since you basically get your table for the whole meal period you book. They don’t rush you and they don’t overbook! So you are taking that table instead of them turning them a few times. This is incredible especially in a Seasonal Town. And would never happen in europe or america.
I ordered Traditional Lebanese dishes that were also special to there. I picked out a fresh local fish that was grilled wrapped in fig leaves. Amazing mezze of hummus, smoked eggplant, cabbage rolls, celery tabboulah…the spicy potatoes all of which were just fresh and delicious. The portions are also generous. The next time I went I also ordered the tiny local fish, had them fried. Oh my goodness like fresh fish popcorn! I will dream about those dipped in fresh tahini for many moons to come.
For my breakfast visit, I ordered the big traditional one with all the mezze and dips. All which again were outstanding. Ramzi, the amazing manager, pushed me to order the eggs with a Fish spread underneath…despite my hesitation I let him do what he does best and I actually really enjoyed it. So go with the flow when you are there.
Their cocktails are creative & yummy. Ramzi creates them although he won’t take credit. I tried a few:) all were very good. I love that when I went Sunday AM tables were ordering espresso martinis! Big Gus the maître D is also so kind and fun.
This restaurant is more than just a restaurant. It’s carefully curated and run by a family for more than 40 years. They don’t have PR, they don’t have instagram and they don’t want it and don’t need it. They have created an experience and environment only shared by locals and referrals and they are proud of the community that creates for anyone that dines there as they should be. I met many local families as well as a few well Informed tourists (like myself :) it’s an incredibly special feeling and time to sit for the day whether it’s breakfast or lunch (they told me dinner is even better with candles lighting the dock!) and watch true Lebanese hospitality at its finest.
Everyone is happy eating food, swimming, sipping cocktails in the water (which is literally so blue it’s see through.) This is what I imagined lebanon to feel like. Jammal hasn’t changed its tune. It’s a formula that works to showcase not other the culture but the warm hospitality and beautiful surroundings of Batroun. As this area continues to become more popular they have remained authentic and true to their story and what they do best. So if you are lucky enough to hear or read about them...

The only positive thing about this place is the beautiful seafront view and the fact that you can swim there. Other than that, everything else was a disaster.
All the seafood dishes were completely tasteless, which is shocking for a seafood restaurant. We ordered a variety — calamari, shrimps, fried and grilled fish — and every single one lacked flavor. Even the tabbouleh was disappointing.
The staff were inattentive and slow, we had to repeat our requests multiple times. Service was careless and far from welcoming.
And the prices… absurdly high for what you get. At that price point, you’d expect quality food and decent service — but neither was delivered.
There are plenty of nearby restaurants with the same view and beach access, but with much better food, service, and value. Definitely not...
Read moreI’m from America and this was my first time in Lebanon. In America, I often say “Places can be different, but they don’t get better than this” I was wrong. This is better. This was the perfect place to sit down for a quick meal, sit down for a long meal, or stay the whole day. I’m very picky with my seafood, the seafood here was incredibly fresh and delicious. The flavors were incredible, the service was incredible, and the setting, like I said before, it doesn’t get better. If you haven’t been here before, a few tips. Get here early, bring a swimsuit & towel. Take a dip in the ocean, then dry off and enjoy an incredible meal. 10/10. Probably the best dining experience of my life. It doesn’t...
