One of my worst experiences in Beirut. I waited over 45 minutes to get my food even though my friend got his. 1st impression: waiter seemed impatient, he got a bit annoyed when I asked about availability of some dishes on the menu. They were out of Kousa/wara2 3neb and several other things in that group that I wanted so I had to settle for what's left(msareen). We were completely ignored for a good 30 minutes and after repeated signaling and waving to the careless wait staff my plate finally arrived COLD!!! so he takes it back to warm it up. Our waiter FINALLY shows up FORTY FIVE minutes later unapologetic and acts like oh nothing is wrong even though at that point I just wanted to leave. I pretty much filled up on tabbouleh and other appetizers. The msareen were below average(boiled only warmed a bit after complaining and got cold soon after so very tasteless with very little spices(they get a zero for taste, a zero for preparation and big zero for presentation and service, not sauteed in butter as some restaurants serve them). While waiting we asked one of the other wait staff for a Saj bread(the lady was making it when we walked in) Again, our request went ignored for over 15 minutes then when my friend complained we were told the lady would come back in 10 minutes to make some. The wait staff(oh they were not short on staff and the restaurant was pretty empty. More waiters than customers but they were doing nothing, would not even come ask if something was the matter, just totally careless ruined the whole experience. Place is huge, ambience is very nice. Surprisingly, the AC was superbly excellent with all that heat outside(was there in July). I doubt that I'd...
Read moreThis place is more than a restaurant actually. It has rooms and a place to stay as well. Not that I would choose to stay there since it is located in a very busy area and wouldn't be my choice if I intend to relax. The restaurant takes you throught a journey of rustic Lebanese tradition thanks to its design, which is one of the best that I've ever seen. I visited this restaurant when it was first opened many years ago. Food there was authentic and delicious. I find that this has changed overtime, both in quality and menu options. The service was not up to scratch this time as well. When I went in, I passed by at least 7-8 waiters. None of them welcomed me or even offered me to be seated. I finally had to go to a waiter my self and ask for a table. You can sense that management has changed. I didn't order food this time because I didn't have a good experience when I was there with my family...

The atmosphere is luxurious, with sunlight flooding in from the windows above. Jams and preserves are available as souvenirs. The dining experience makes it a special occasion.
The service is discreet but very attentive, with the floor manager lady coming to check on the condition of the food and requests.
The taste of the shawarma was very nice, especially the shawarma bread was so crispy, which was my favourite. The garlic sauce is also very well seasoned, which makes me hungry.
The prices are not higher than I supposed, but it's quite reasonable considering they serve several appetites at the beginning. It's supposed to be a lot more fun when you're with lots of friends and family.
