As i love to celebrate any event in a new place with spirit, i decided to try Al khan Al Makssoud, a hidden gem in Taanayel inside Arc en Ciel Bldgs and Taanayel Eco Lodge. A very nice concept, welcoming villagy feeling. We were greeted by the waiter and seated, the place is going under expansion work so there is some messiness but overall nice. We ordered fatush (generous portion) with special toasted bread instead of fried! Mtabal eggplant: fair, Batata harra (fresh coriander and balanced taste). Grilled cheese rolls, and a mixed grilled platter (kabab, meat and taouk). We also had the tastiest Kishk saj manoushe ever, really yummy. As we are not big eaters, we asked for the leftovers take away, too bad they didn't put them all (they left out the meat skewers and some of the manoushe and i didn't understand the reason?!) Overall the food is ok, but the most enjoyable was the entourage. We did a tour in the ecolodge, it is a very beautiful concept. I would...
Read moreThis was horrible. We came here as part of a seminar for social business and had to stay for a couple of days. How a bad experience it was.
The rooms and their concept are fitting and descently made for what the eco lodge is, but the heater (sobia) had leaks, smelled like gas and would certainly die off in the middle of the night for no apparent reason.
The worst of it? The food... You'd expect rice to taste like... Rice. And fries to at least be cooked to be considered well done. Breakfast was the only time of the day where the food had something to swallow, I'm thankful there was cheese, labneh, and fattoush or else I would've literally not eaten at all due to the food.
If you were to come stay at the ecolodge of Khan all maksoud, remember don't eat there. And get boots in winter, there's a descent...
Read moreAlthough the setting of the restaurant was beautiful, unfortunately, my overall experience was not satisfying. The service was slow, and to make matters worse, the food was not very tasty. Additionally, the portions were small, which was especially disappointing since we were a group of seven people who had chosen the set menu, but we received only enough food for four people. Even the mixed grilled plate, which was supposed to contain two skewers from each category, was surprisingly small.
They have to work on their food and we can visit this place multiple times!
Overall, I would rate the food as 3 stars, the service as 2 stars, the cleanliness as 2 stars, the setting as 5 stars (the vintage villa turned restaurant was lovely), the speed as 2 stars, and the...
