The food is tasty and the portions are generous. The waiting time for their preparation is about 45 minutes and it's listed in the menu, so one needs to keep that in mind and go there for a slow meal. The restaurant is spacious and clean.
Said that, the service is somewhat rude and inflexible. It seemed that we were inconveniencing them by asking questions related to the menu.
There were quite a few options of sides and sauces listed in the menu, but the waitress didn't seem to like us actually naming the ones we'd like. Finally, they didn't let the last one of the three of us to order different sides at all. Naturally, he got served something he didn't like and didn't even touch it. What's the point in listing all the sides in the menu if you later remove the option of swapping them out? In the end, it's wasteful and not very customer-friendly.
Finally, the service is not mindful of the covid regulations. None of the wait staff had a mask on! Not on the chin, not hanging on one ear, not poking out from a pocket. In fact, the first words from the wait staff after sitting down was: "You can remove the mask now". Thank you for the reminder, I'm well aware of my agency. Removing the facemask immediately after sitting down is not my priority and shouldn't be yours. Finding a menu in English for my foreign partner, as you don't have one in print, is more important than removing the protective gear in the times of pandemics.
In conclusion, food is good, facilities clean, service leaves a lot to wish for. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like it will improve as the place is always packed due to the lack of strong competition...
Read moreThis place was better than expected. Fast and nice service. We ordered shashlik (pork and chicken) and it was much much better than in Saslikine (where they suppose to master this dish, but...). Only thing that was a disappointment was portion size and how it was served. I would say 5 pieces of shashlik aren't a large portion and I wonder how their small portion would look (also available for 5.50 eu). Everything was placed on a huge amount of potatoes so portion looked huge, but in reality it was way too much of potatoes (wasn't able to finish it). Wok veggies (as garnish) contained a large amount of onion and I think it's not necessary as you already get big chunks of raw onion with your dish. Caramelized beets were delicious, on other hand. Fried bread with cheese was a bit pricey (4.50), but portion was huge, enough for two. And if you call yourself a restaurant you should get a better cutlery, not something what is left from an old canteen. But after all everything was fresh, tasty, clean and a serving lady was nice and was able to answer our questions. Definitely...
Read moreMy wife and family had eaten here the previous week and to be fair, their experience was great. However, our experience on 20.06.2022 was nothing short of a disaster. There was a function being hosted but neverthess the main restaurant was open. The mains took close to 1.5 hours after the starter (which was, not by design supposed to be cold) and according my wife, the mains were a shadow of what they had been the week before. (From my perspective the mains were average at best.) The serving staff did their best but clearly were not given instruction from the management to manage customer expectation. There was no consideration of a discount, a free drink or anything. Other tables were also clearly less than impressed also and we could hear the complaints. Very disappointing way to end our stay in Alytus with perhaps a last ever meal with ageing parents. Good luck and I wish the business an improved customer experience...
