The 2 Michelin stars promise a lot, but you will be disappointed, especially when you have already tried a restaurant from the same or similar level. Especially the vegetarian options have very simple flavor, for example the starter consisted only out of carrots with fig sauce, main dish consisted only out of mushrooms, no experiment with the flavor, nothing to discover. The lemon paste had color added. The cook even forgot that i do not eat fish and put some sauce out of fish in one of the servings. The manager was very arrogant and without asking the cook, he tried to convince me that there is no fish inside, that it is another flavor that reminds of it. Later he asked the cook and came back and first said the sauce has a fish flavor, later said there was a fish in the sauce and he apologized only after i insisted that it is not ok, because i repeated often enough that i don
t eat fish and meat. Only French is spoken, what i would not expect from a classy restaurant in Luxembourg. English speaks only the manager, and only if you ask for other language, otherwise it wont be offered to you, even they see that you and your partner speak other language and that your partner has to translate for you. So no effort at all on that side, if you dont ask. In my opinion the restaurant doesn
t deserve even one Michelin star. I have been to a restaurant with one star already, and this is not comparable. Other that the fancy interior, there is nothing worth... Read moreSo, it's a great place but definitely not 5 star.
Food was great. We choose the 7 service menu which was delightful. All dishes contained a unique and delightful taste. Only one dish wasn't really to my liking, but that's due to personal preference. Staff and chef were delightful. Taking care to explain each dish and delivering a delightful culinary experience. They shifted to English to be able to provide us with a more immersful experience which was great.
The only issue we had, which was quite annoying and which almost ruined a 4hr experience, was a woman wearing a floral pyjama. After paying for our meal, and leaving a 10% tip, this pyjama woman decided to come chasing us outside asking us if we had paid. id have assumed that she would check with the other staff before. Maybe she was new or doesn't know how things work in the hospitality industry. Maybe she thought we were at q local burger joint or something. It was a very annoying experience.
Pyjama lady was the only thing which I didn't like in the restaurant.its a pity to be honest, but I don't think I'd feel comfortable eating there with someone of that level...
Read moreThis is how I felt. This place is an exercise at excellence and in many ways it achieves and delivers that. Service is overall excellent, but I felt it was rarely personal, which you could expect at this level in a small room, and in my case there were also small slips you would not expect in a two star place, like where a cheese comes from or why red is or isn’t the de facto pairing with cheese, duh.
The food delights, but to me there was a bit too much sophistication that at some point stops to elevate the dishes…like with three distinct herb sauces seasoning one of the starters, fantastic but for my simple palate and fork, too much.
My last impression is that for something that costs a multiple of any really nice restaurant, some of the magic is missing. We entered a minutely organised choreography but looking around I just did not feel it. I attribute this to where the place is located too…
It is just me, but hey all the hard work behind such a place still deserves at least a 4…and we did enjoy our night...
