Le Chalet de Remerschen — Restaurant in Schengen

The place is actually beautiful and calm, but the staff made it a pretty disappointed experience. We entered and sat down, and I already heard one of the french staff member speaking loud and bad about one client to her other work colleague (as a client this is gives a very bad impression when you can hear the entire conversation). Then, she served us and doesn't even speak nor understand a minimum of luxembourgish nor german, even though she's working right at the German-Luxembourgish border. We sat and ate our ice creams, which were also not the hit, but the prices were indeed. Too expensive. One was a coupe hawaienne but without whipped cream. The price on the bill was indeed the same as with cream. So strange, because when you want a extra whipped cream on ice cream, they let you pay minimum 50 cents for it. Apparently doesn't count when you don't want it... Profit... The french staff members kept on talking loud, like if they were at home. I felt it pretty unpleasant and rough. Then I stood up to pay at the counter, the cashier was joking with other clients in that time and then served other client's payment before me, even though I was the first standing there. I thought to myself: never more. Too unpleasant, too expensive and poor quality. In all the ways. Toilet paper was missing in one (of 2) toilet. But at least those were clean. Staff: even a kid would serve...

they did not let me in to drink a beer in a very hot afternoon, arrogantly claiming « we are not a brasserie »… and quite rude tone… even though more than half of the tables were not occupied… I must say I was properly dressed and told them I would not stay for long… and I could have had my drink at the bar - they do have a bar… well if they invented this policy that no drinks are served without food (which is absolutely weird for a cheap eat in the middle of recreation area!) - they could have been at least a little more polite with the customers...

We recently moved to the area and this restaurant has been so wonderful to visit over and over again. The setting is lovely and the portions are huge. They always provide a delicious small welcome starter dish before our order is brought, and always have fantastic local wine recommendations. One waitress in particular is always so incredibly warm and even speaks English when my Luxembourgish starts falling short. Their specials are often very good choices!
