Nosy Lodge is the only place you would want to stay in Nosy Be! I would gladly rate this a 6* if possible. ||The hotel is located on a beautiful stretch of beach in Ambondrona right outside the much busier Ambatoloaka where most og the shops, bars and restaurants are. The property is a gorgeous garden with a lovely pool directly overlooking the beach and the ocean. The water reaches all the way up to the wall of the hotel at high tide, making it the perfect place for enjoying the beach and swimming. ||The rooms are AMAZING, all (I believe) having astonishing views of the garden, ocean and beach! We were upgraded to the upper floor room, which consisted of two stories, a private balcony (with fantastic views), modern AC, a big shower, and very comfortable bed with mosquito nets. The interior is very tasteful and rooms exceptionally clean.||The staff at Nosy Lodge is the friendliest and most helpful. Sylvie, the woman running the hotel, is also a fantastic lady. They accommodated all of our needs, and were always around to assist or have a chat. They also provide any excursions you can imagine by a tour operator at the hotel, and a great diving center just adjacent. ||The restaurant at Nosy Lodge serves a good buffet breakfast, and dishes up exquisite food for both lunch and dinner. Do not miss their occasional buffet dinners, serving the tastiest and freshest food we had in Madagascar.||The best thing about the hotel, however, is that it has a very local touch, and that the property is very open to its surroundings. Much better than the more fancy and sealed off resorts along the coast of Nosy Be. ||Truly one of the best hotel experiences of my life. Merci...
Read moreWhere should I start with this place? How about the location, it was a very easy ride from the airport, typical Madagascar roads. If you need an ATM or supermarket, the front desk staff is happy to call a TukTuk (taxi) for you. The trip takes about ten minutes one way and the ATM is in an enclosed room with onsite security, so no need to worry. Our driver waited for us to shop for groceries as we needed.
The staff. All wonderful, friendly and accommodating people. I did get a little bit of grief for not practicing my French when ordering my food but it was all in good fun.
The food. The menu is a bit limited but everything we had was excellent. We sent back clean plates every time.
The rooms. Simple brutalist design, concrete everything with small touches of wood to soften the overall vibe. This design allows for super clean rooms and no black mildew in the corners of the shower which is typical of grouted tile. My only complaint here is that our room had the toilet downstairs and the shower and sink upstairs which was a little strange but not a big deal.
The pool. I didn't swim in the pool but the grounds staff cleaned it diligently everyday.
Other stuff. The AC worked well enough, there are shutters in all rooms that definitely allow mosquito infiltration but the nets worked well. The power went out a few times, bring a flashlight just in case.
Overall, each of the five stars were...
Read moreWe went to nosy lodge form the 28th of October 2018||The areas are well kept and the hotel has amazing views. we had a sea facing room overlooking the pool and the sea.||The room as all you need but I would of loved a little fridge just to keep drinks cold as it is very hot there.||The staff are friendly and willing to help however they do not really understand English so communicating is not the easiest as a lot of tourists are from French speaking countries I do not think English is a must for them yet. However its all part of the adventure.||The food for lunch and dinner is really good. They also have a few buffet nights with a lot of seafood options. The food and drinks are the same in terms of food and drink pricing in South Africa. They do have some English menus. ||The Lodge had Nost Be original arrange our trips and I would recommend them as they arrange day ours including transport, water, towels, lunch and entry fees. The hotel paid all the upfront costs and we paid them when we left that made things easier.||Over all we...
