If you're a fan of ngiu chap, Kedai Kopi Nyuk Pau Baru in Menggatal is a must-visit. In my personal opinion, this is hands down the best ngiu chap I've had—rich, flavorful broth with tender beef cuts that are cooked just right. Every spoonful feels like comfort in a bowl. One thing that really stands out here is the sambal lada. It’s not the same as what you get at other branches—spicier, more aromatic, and clearly made with extra care. It complements the ngiu chap perfectly and gives the whole dish an extra kick. Yes, the prices are on the higher side, but honestly, it’s worth every sen. The quality, taste, and portion make it a satisfying meal. On top of that, the service is excellent—fast, friendly, and attentive even when the place gets busy. This place truly sets the bar for ngiu chap in Sabah. Highly recommended for anyone craving a hearty, unforgettable local meal.

Duuii this bowl of Ngiu Chap is definitely has it's own charm, and legend says this is way better than the father's recipe at Inanam. I won't talk bout the taste, because like every other review, this is a must taste! Their service is tip top! And most importantly they treat you as you're matter the most, they open up table to even the end of the premise and make sure you're never left out. The premise is at the corner and such a hidden gem yet quite strategic for being located at area with enough parking space and benefiting the carwash just adjacent to it. The owner is also very hardworking lady, i think she's there everyday serving you personally. And let's give her applause for her gold bracelet to anklet! The only downside, the toilet.. hope it'll get to be improved time to time. Overall, i still love it!

Portion is big and lots of meat – beef was tender, meatballs were okay, and the thin noodles plus mihun mix was good. Overall, food is decent. Chili soy sauce, spoons, forks, and chopsticks are all self-service on the table. Sambal chili was okay too, got a bit of a kick. Now, service… seriously needs improvement. The lady taking the order looked so serious the whole time – like sis, we’re here for noodles, not court hearing 🤣. After eating, you just go to the counter to pay. I paid via QR and guess what? No receipt for the food, and the total was RM65.20. One good thing – if you can’t finish, they’ll pack it for you and even give extra soup if you ask. That’s a plus. Would be even better if they added fried shallot oil like other places.

I am a regular customer. Once a week must visit.

After all this years, here’s my review:-

Pros:- They can maintain the taste of the soup consistently. The portion maybe ada “kadang2 pandai lari” but still the consistency is there. Kudos

Cons:- Price every year ada changes. The portion remain the same every year but prices keep increasing. Price keeps increasing and yet even Tissue cannot provide to customers. Yes , u heard me right. No tissue provided. U have to “buy” from the restaurant. Even small restaurants can provide tissue. But strong chain restaurants like this cant even provide basic necessities for customers. Price keep increasing & have SST yet all fork/chopsticks/chili/ketchup all self service.

I think this restaurant and beef noodles restaurant at Politeknik are the same chain? Yet the service and everything are better at politeknik.

Nevertheless, i will still go makan here. And hopefully, the service will get improve at least provide tissues...
