While the curry paste has its own distinct taste, having it once every three months is more than enough for me, anything more frequent might be overwhelming.
XO Fried Mihun😃😃😃💸9 The mihun was fried without adding any soy or dark soy sause. It had a faint yellow hue but was far from charred. The four pieces of naked shrimp seemed more like an afterthought rather than a substantial part of the dish. The XO sambal paste, which should be the highlight, was underwhelming, as the amount used by the cheapskate chef was insufficient to deliver the robust flavor expected from XO fried mihun. The dish felt like it had plummeted from a great height, turning from promising to disappointing. Just like the Barli, a small glass charged💸2.70 is too much la boss, so bad.
🥦Jun 2024 Dark Fried Mihun Dry🤨🤨💸RM7 I requested a darker and spicier fried mihun dry with more chili padi, but the overall presentation was quite poor. The mihun seemed to be broken into small, short pieces, likely due to over-stirring with the spatula and lacking the desired dark color and charred aroma. It was over-fried, resulting in a too-soft texture. Additionally, there were too few chicken slices and vegetables, and the dish was lacking in flavor overall.
The roasted chicken rice (breast)😋😋😋😋💸RM6 was tender, but the sauce poured onto it was too heavy and salty, making it essential to eat with the rice. The rice itself was less fragrant and less moist than I would have preferred, but still acceptable overall. The condiment was flavorful with a strong taste of chili and garlic, but it lacked ginger, which could have enhanced the overall experience.
🧄May 2024 Recommended by colleague, decided to try Kueh Chap😋😋😋😋💸RM9. The aroma of fried garlic hit me the moment it was served, and the presentation was quite attentive and tantalizing. I opted to omit the pork offal, leaving me with the kueh and sliced pork belly, which is my favorite. The pork belly was sliced into large, tender, and slippery pieces, perfectly cooked. The broth, boosted by the fried garlic paste, truly tasted heavenly. Eating the pork belly with the sambal chili sauce added an extra layer of satisfaction, making the dish complete.
