Black Tree Cafe — Restaurant in Johor

Took my dad here for Father’s Day. Wanted to order the lamb rack but it wasn’t available.

Food was slow, took more than half an hour to get our food… only to be below par quality

Ordered the Lamb Shoulder, dad asked for well done as he doesn’t quite know how to eat it a little less cooked. Sadly the lamb was so hard it was so hard to cut. They can’t even provide proper steak knife, we had to send it back to the kitchen to get it cut to smaller pieces. He didn’t end up enjoying his Father’s Day meal.

Th Mediterranean fish was tasteless, when I asked for sambal chilli, the waitress said it was chargeable ( seriously? How pathetic) I had to ask for salt twice to add on to my tasteless fish, the Salt shaker couldn’t even release any salt.

Overall not too please with my meal. For a place that has been opened for so long and survived COVID years I expected a lot more

Only okay item was the camomile tea (though don’t think anything can go wrong here) it came in a nice pot, with nice cute baby tea cups and a little...

The Black Tree Cafe is a sweet little place, with a small selection of meals. They recently took out their desserts, though I'm not sure whether they have replaced them yet. The place has many seats, and a small upper "deck" floor. The seats are quite comfortable and the food is mildly good, but the atmosphere is great. The staff are friendly and helpful, though they sometimes stand in one of the corners, next to the cake stand and stare at everyone. Many young students from the nearby school often come after school, so I recommend going in the evening (there is usually not many people though). The shop is quite hidden, and is in a corner next to a road leading in to a small carpark. This place is great just for afternoon tea, as they have quality drinks, or for a large meal. Their meal choices...

Today I got the chance to dine here with some friends to celebrate a certain occasion. So much has improved since my last visit with new decor and food. Still popular as ever. Keep up.

23 May 2025 celebrate a special occasion with co-workers. Again black tree does not disappoint. I only regret that I have not tried their dessert. It is out of this world. Should have ordered when I was there. At least I can try all their desserts when I get the chance. Oh yes they will be moving to a new location and I encourage new and existing customers to come here to experience their dining environment for the last time. Thanks to the original black tree for all these years of dining.
