One can see this restaurant on the left of the expressway as we drive pass from Johor towards Kuala Lumpur.
During their operational hours, you will notice that there are many cars parked along side the road, despite them having a car park that could probably parked up to 20 cars.
I have also heard that this restaurant uses 40 days old mutton, and thus, the name “40 hari”. However, I have yet to verify this piece of information. Therefore, readers who know can correct me if I have heard wrongly.
It is with all these observation and information that I was filled with exhilaration and anticipation to come and try their curry mutton.
It was eight forty-three in the morning and I felt that it’s a little too early to have a heavy meal, thus, I skipped ordering rice and decided to go for “roti canai” (an Indian-influenced flat bread) instead.
The appearance of the curry mutton did not disappoint. As you can see from the photo, the rich and creamy curry would make one drool and I could not wait to sink my teeth into the much anticipated tender mutton and curry.
As I plunged my teeth into the, how I thought the taste would be, savoury mutton and curry, I was greeted with an unexpected sweetness. A tang of disgust flowed down my oesophagus as I swallowed the lot. The mutton was not as tender as I expected it to be. (Comparing to some I have eaten in JB).
Therefore, I turned my attention to the roti canai. I preferred my roti canai to be a little bit on the crispy side, but It turns out that the piece of roti canai that I was served with was a bit soggy and too chewy for my liking.
However unpalatable it is for me, the crowd does not seem to stop pouring in. Cars were piling up along the road as I walked out of the restaurant. Well, I guess taste is very subjective. Some like it, and some does not. I, personally, did not enjoy...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer of Kari Kambing 40 Hari for a while now, and while the food quality and service have typically met expectations, I’ve recently noticed a significant price increase that has left me feeling a bit disappointed.
Food Quality and Experience: The quality of the food remains top-notch, as always. "The Nasi Kari Kambing itself is still as delicious and filling as ever, and the seasonal salad had a wonderful balance of flavors. The portions are also generous, which is great, but I do feel that the increase in prices doesn’t entirely match the value provided.
Price Increase: The most notable change I’ve observed is 5 ringgit increase in prices across the menu. While I understand that inflation and rising ingredient costs can affect pricing, I’m not sure the value has kept pace with the hike.
Impact on Overall Experience: It’s important to acknowledge that the atmosphere and service continue to be excellent. However, I can’t help but feel that, for the price now, I might be able to get a similar experience elsewhere for less.
Final Thoughts: Ultimately, I’m torn. I love the food and the vibe here, but the recent price increase has made me reconsider whether it’s the best value for money. I’d still recommend Kari Kambing 40 Hari to anyone who’s looking for a special meal or a treat, but I’d advise being aware of the current pricing before you go. Hopefully, the restaurant can find a balance between maintaining quality and offering fair prices...
