Stepping into this 40-year-old Bak Kut Teh shop feels like stepping back in time. The no-frills setting, old wooden tables, and the ever-present aroma of simmering herbs evoke a comforting sense of nostalgia. This isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience steeped in heritage.

The Food: The star of the show is, of course, the Bak Kut Teh. The broth is deeply flavorful, rich with herbal complexity without being overpowering. You can tell this recipe has been perfected over decades. The pork ribs are tender and fall-off-the-bone, soaking up the broth beautifully. Their braised tau pok, salt veg is very old school type. Don’t miss the you tiao (fried dough sticks)—perfect for soaking up every last drop of broth. Inside the shop u need to wait for your turn before they take your order. Waiting time around half and hours after they...

Quite a history this bak ku teh joint. I believe it has passed down to second generation. It’s been my regular visit every time I pass by this area. So the quality of food is still above average. Soup is tangy and the meat I ordered is tender and yummy. Only downside is that quality of food has dropped. Can’t really tell why but maybe change of raw material or etc.

Service is bit slow and the cook taking his time to serve our dishes. I saw him walking around, chatting with the patrons then back to his station. So took him about 10mins more to serve us.

Taste Rating: 7.5/10 Ambiance Rating: 5/10 Service Rating: 4/10 Value Rating: 7.5/10

To preface. The food is great, the bak kut teh soup is flavorful and the meat is tender. The accompanying dishes like the salted vege is well pickled.

The food.is great but the problem is that the service is not able to keep up with the level of business they have. Service staff keep forgetting your orders, they dont write things down and they don't remember your orders or the cook forgot or did not hear the servers yell out your orders. It can get frustrating.

Parking is difficult to find, it's a busy shoplot area, not sure the restaurant could do anything about it.

Atmosphere, nothing to write home about. It's not...

One of the better bak kut teh in Johor, please do not go in with the expectation of comparing this to Klang, enjoy this simple meal with an open mind. The soup is balance between bone marrow and herbal flavour without one overpowering another, the soy sauce flavour is also kept to a minimum. There are also no button mushroom or shiitake mushroom or enoki mushroom or fried tofu skin or spring onion flavours mixed into the soup. Some may beg to differ, but I personally enjoy this version because the flavour is not sophisticated, just a simple hearty soup that warms the soul. I would recommend this to those who is nearby the area.
