Went there on Sunday night around 7pm (less crowded) The place was full the max when i came a day prior around 9pm. Probably it was festive season (Eid Adha)
Place: big and convenient. Many parking space at not so busy hour. Got playground too, and some mini shops
Open big space, with plenty seafood shops offering fresh food (look all same to me) . Taste may differ.
Shop 2 tiptop fushido (crowded). Other shops less crowded. As we were quite hungry, we went to shop named Wak Jos.
We ordered siakap 3 rasa , sotong sambal/tepung , udang butter, kangkung belacan. Overall tasted fresh n yummy (because of the freshness). Cooking style was average. Kangkung belacan - not enuf belacan-ess tasted, and a bit watery. I prefer crunchier (less time cooked the vege) . 3/5
Siakap 3 rasa - looks was okay. Taste more to saucy (chili/tomato), a little bit of tomato, carrot, chilli here and there 4/5
Prawn butter (dry) - soggy egg n butter (not flaky or crunchy as i expected), but the prawn itself tasted superb as it was fresh 3/5
Sambal sotong- quite tasteful for those who like spicy food. Not for .
Sotong tepung- appearance was spot on. The tepung was crunchy but.. i am dissapointed as the sotong was too chewy. Not easy to eat tho. 3/5
The most pleasant was the epal sam boi drinks. 5/5. My suggestion they shud improve on their cooking skill/style.
Overall experience was good. May come here again n try different shop.
Price for that was 140. Modest price. Ofcourse not as cheap as Sabar, but cheaper than Melaka and...
Read moreDuring our short family getaway to Muar, we were on the lookout for a nice spot to enjoy a seafood dinner. Based on local recommendations, we looked up Sabak Awor Seafood Court, and many reviews pointed to Stall #1 – Pak Bakar Seafood as the go-to choice. After walking around and exploring the seafood stalls, we also chose Stall #1—and it was a great decision.
What stood out was the friendly service and how all the uncooked seafood was properly covered, ensuring cleanliness and keeping flies away—something we truly appreciated. Despite placing a large order for 10 adults and 5 kids, service was quick and efficient.
Highlights of our meal included the sotong celup tepung, ikan tiga rasa, ikan bakar, and tomyam—all absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed the kerang bakar, kailan ikan masin, and a few other dishes. Everything was flavorful and cooked just right.
As we were leaving, Pak Bakar himself came over and thanked us. He even recommended we come again for lunch next time to try their signature asam pedas. My family agreed—we definitely will!
Stall #1 Pak Bakar Seafood = Highly...
Read moreClose to Muar town, just a 10-minute drive. In this Food Court, there are more than 10 stalls offering seafood. As soon as you step into the entrance of the food court, you should be ready to be greeted by the stall handlers...hahaha. They really have a way with words, persuading you to visit their stall. Although I could have walked to the end of the food court to choose a Ikan Bakar stall, I chose stall No. 1, Pak Bakar Ikan Bakar, because I wanted a view that overlooks the muara sungai (river mouth). Ok la, enjoy view sambil makan kan... And I think my choice was not wrong, as the seafood was delicious and worth the price offered. I had:
