Visited many times 👍🏻 Here to share my personal feedbacks.
[FOOD & DRINKS] • Aglio Olio Smoked Duck ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is set lunch, the smoke duck very tender, pair with lemon very nice, the set lunch price is also worthy, I top-up my set drinks to coffee @RM3 (if I remember correctly)
• Café Latte ⭐⭐⭐ Taste a little bold to me, but this pretty much depends on own taste buds and preferences towards coffee.
• Cinnamon Apple ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Set lunch drinks, top-up at around RM6. Very refreshing! Do give this a try if you love cinnamon, VERY RECOMMENDED!
• Leek Carbonara ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is from set lunch, if order ala carte it comes with a fish slice (I forgot the name). Just like those ordinary carbonara but taste good 😋 also kinda special because it served with "seaweed".
• Smoked Duck Carbonara infused with Earl Grey ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is really yummy, their carbonara don't taste like very "yucky", not over creamy, and this one have a hint of earl grey which make this dish more fragrant and adding more layers of flavours, really special, MUST try.
• Mushroom Aglio Olio ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Served with 3 kinds of mushroom, not too oily as many café served. 3, kinds of mushroom are cooked in 3, different way: deep fried (enoki), stir fried (brown shimeji mushroom?), cooked with some kind of sauce (king oyster mushroom). MUST TRY.
• Orange Latte ⭐⭐ For me the orange taste is too strong, mixing with the bold espresso make the overall taste quite "strong". Not sure how to describe, it's like orange is overtaking the espresso, whereby orange is supposed to be just adding a little bit more flavour to the latte instead of making the whole drinks taste extra strong and bold.
[SERVICE] ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Staffs are friendly and polite, they will serve a plate of fried peanuts for dine in guests, not sure do they still serve it now. I even received a Christmas gift from them last year, they let me pick one under the Christmas tree.
[Environment] Space is smaller, but the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, there are some board games like chess provided for guests.
One thing not convenient is the parking space very, very limited, somemore it is located in a small area nearby primary school, if visit during school ends hours might be kinda troublesome. But I saw from their FB page you can actually ask their staffs if you really cannot find...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting Bookafe, located at Batu 11, Balakong, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. This charming little café is more than just a place to eat — it’s a cozy hideout where you can enjoy good food, relaxing vibes, and warm hospitality.
From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the staff with genuine smiles. They were very friendly and attentive, always checking in to ensure everything was alright. It’s not easy to find such thoughtful service these days, and it definitely made a positive impression.
The environment is another highlight. The café is designed to be cozy and comfortable, with a peaceful ambiance that makes it a great spot to unwind, read a book, or catch up with friends. Whether you're dining alone or with company, the atmosphere is inviting and relaxing.
As for the food, I ordered the nasi lemak, which came in a generous portion. One thing that really stood out to me was the fact that refills are allowed — not just for rice, but also for sambal, anchovies, cucumber, and peanuts. This is a rare and thoughtful touch that shows how much they value their customers. The taste? Quite good! The sambal had a nice balance of spice and sweetness, and the overall flavor was satisfying.
In terms of pricing, everything was very reasonable, especially considering the refillable nasi lemak. It’s great value for money, and you leave feeling full and content.
All in all, Bookafe is a hidden gem worth discovering. Whether you're nearby or just passing through Balakong, it’s definitely worth a visit. I’ll certainly be...
Read moreLooks nice on the outside but disappointing experience. Upon entry at lunch time they advised that Babi Penyet berempah a dish they hype so much about and 2 other dish was out of stock (sold out in the morning) and they open till 10pm, imagine lots of disappointed customer after enduring a long drive experience. They get 2 stars but the following raised their stars. Truffle Thai Green Curry Salmon squid ink pasta is excellent & flavourful, skillful play of flavour of each without Green Curry or Truffle over empowering each other ending up with a deep fragrant unique flavour that you can just eat lots with springy squid ink pasta, fish floss, nicely fried salmon (crispy & not dry) with roe. Fried Chicken nasi Lemak has fragrant rice (2 fragrance), deliciously preserved vegetable (very rare as usually it's too sour & yucky but this is nice), crispy anchovies, coated cruchy peanuts & nice complementing sambal although spicy. Best of all the rice and side dish is refillable. I can say the chef is really skillful & an expert in playing with flavours. Mochi Apam Balik is interesting but bland because of the mochi but they provide a nice flavoured Gula Melaka that boost the flavour of the dessert making it excellent. They have free cold/warm water but limited plates so you need to wait for them to get it & wash for you. They are red ants at the entrance area & complimentary drinks for those waiting outside under the hot weather but without any clean cups. They are flies indoor & fly catcher is no where in sight. Inside feels like a kampung house cafe with...
