We went to Kuala Kangsar on a wednesday morning, and wanted to have breakfast at our regular place. But unfortunately, two of these outlets were closed. Wrong day, I guess. But my wife suddenly remembered about this place by the river, which was recommended by a friend sometime ago...
The name sounded impressive, and we were very keen to try it out. The direction was a bit confusing, but since we are quite familiar with the Kota Lama Kiri area, we finally managed to figure the direction to the river. And there it was, exactly by the Sungai Perak river...
Upon our arrival, we found that there were a number of cars already parked right in front of the restaurant. My wife quickly rushed in to book a favored table, as we noticed the large number of seated customers. Luckily, we managed to secure a nice table for our Party of 4, right by the river, with a direct view towards the rather large island in the river. Not only that, we were astonished to see a huge school of fish swimming right by the river bank! And some customers were feeding them, hence the sizeable number of fish scrambling to be fed...
My wife ordered the Nasi Pulut Kuning with Chicken Rendang, and so did Abang Ju. Kak Azah ordered something I couldnt recall, and I was keen to try the Nasi Kerabu. But my wife reminded me that Kuala Kangsar is not famous for Nasi Kerabu, and being a Nasi Kerabu connoisseur, I would have been disappointed. Hence, I changed my order to Nasi Goreng Chicken Chop, which was fantastic, and also was very agreable with my tummy...
Maybe we just might come again in...
Read moreThis was a new location (which at first we seemed not to hv found the correct place with Google Map's assistance)... which many others too seemed hv faced the same problem. Due to our persistance, and after meandering along narrow Kg road, we finally arrived. There was ample parking place. As we approached the premise a slight drizzle started. This outlet could easily allow at least close to 60pax incldg children. There were long, foursome and twosome tables available. The latter were close to the river banks... with Umbrellas provided for shade or cover (from rain). Local and some western cuisine are available. However, the service (maybe due to being crowded during weekends & holidays) was rather slow and you hv to be patient. The waiters/servers need to check the Food counter (where food ordered was ready to be delivered... but maybe due to lack of proper guidance [by the Proprietor] patrons hv to wait before your 'Orders' finally reached your table. The same too seemed to effect the Beverage counter. But generally, it was a unique experience having your Breakfast by the Riverside...
Read moreRelatively new breakfast stall in Kuala kangsar. Located in Kota Lama Kiri. Note that the entry is kind of hard to spot at the first place, may easily overshoot. Turn right at Badan Khidmat Masyarakat AT Taif (Green-Yellow sign board). Then follow the sign 'Breakfast By The River' until you see the river bank
Inside there, parking is ample. Place was clean. The owner and the waiters are friendly and service was quick.
Ordered Nasi Kerabu with additional fried egg for Rm6.5, Mushroom soup with garlic bread RM5, and Roti Bakar Telur Goyang Rm3.5.
Portion was good and reasonable price. High recommended the food item above.
