I came here for the first time, was amazed by the crowd that are dining at this cafe.
It has a good spread of food, as its name suggests, this place is popular with ikan Keli, catfish. They have various cooking methods, like deep fried, masak chilli and curry.
The fish was prepared well, it has no muddy taste whatsoever. The deep fried one is very crispy. The chilly version is too sweet to my liking.
I am impressed with the fried chicken and also ayam bakar (bbq chicken drenched in sauce). The bbq chicken is so tender, even the chicken breast is soft and flavourful. The ayam bakar sauce complements the chicken well. It has a nice burnt smell which adds a nice touch. Fried chicken is equally tender, the marination is done well. Every piece of meat is flavourful, crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside.
I love the sauce provided too. They even have tempoyak sambal! The tempoyak smell isn't so intense but it's nice. Sambal hijau is also good.
Water is provided free of charge. There are cups next to a water dispenser. Those cups have a strong dish detergent odor. So it's like drinking a detergent flavoured water. Seriously it's just the smell hahaa.
There is also a garden with a lot of flowery plants where most people come for photo check-ins and Instagram stories.
Parking is ample. With the large crowd inside, there are still enough parking spaces for more crowds to come. That is great.
The food is great, reasonable price. Overall rating is at 4.5/5. 0.5 point deduction is for the cups that smells like detergent.
I...
Read moreBeen here once. This eatery is located in kangar. I think i've been to this eatery years back before, but that one was located in the paddy field. This one is close to a T-junction.
The premises is quite a space, consisting of a main shop as well as a few stalls for snacks. Since we came for lunch and purposely for those keli/catfish, we didn't try any snack stalls. For the food you can get various dishes from fried keli/chicken to a stew like. There are also a lot of ulam/vege counter and some of the ulam i had never seen before. So please pick some to try them all. There are also 5 sambal/sauces to eat with those ulam. The food is considered as tasty. The price is normal and affordable.
There are also a counter for desserts, unfortunately we forgot to pick some as we were indulged with the main course. For the seating and table, so you can seat anywhere vacant. It seems like you can reserve the table as well.
This premise also comes with a restroom in a different block. The open carpark is provided in an unpaved manner. It could be more proper if it was.
Overall, a nice place to eat keli, various dishes, snacks and desserts, tasty, affordable, free carpark. Could...
Read moreWe stumbled upon this cozy spot on our first day in Perlis while hunting for a good lunch — and we're glad we did! After checking out the glowing Google reviews and high ratings, we decided to give it a try. We arrived a bit late, so the lauk (dishes) were a bit limited, but still tasty!
We had crispy keli goreng (so good!), some fresh taugeh (bean sprout) stir-fry, and rice with sambal — simple but satisfying. We didn’t order any drinks, and the bill came to RM25. While that’s not too pricey, it did feel more like KL/Selangor pricing than what you’d expect in Perlis, which is usually known for super affordable food.
That said, the restaurant had a clean, welcoming vibe, and parking was a breeze — which is always a plus when you’re traveling. If you're exploring the area and craving some local Malay dishes, it's still worth checking out, just don’t be too surprised if the price feels a bit more "city"...
