Recommended. A good place to try the exotic 'mentarang' (duck mouth sea clam).
We tried only 2 dishes i.e. the grilled mentarang and lala masak pedas (chilli baby clam).
The grilled mentarang was good. It has that fresh seawater sweetness and fatty taste. The meat has a soft and long texture. Coconut shell is being used to grill the mentarang. Really adds a bit of smokey flavour to the mentarang.
A plate of mentarang (approximately 400 gram) costs between RM20 to RM25. Suitable for one or two person.
The spicy chilli lala was tasty. The gravy has that strong spicy and sour taste with a slight kick of sweetness. The average size of the lala was medium small. Since the gravy was good, we packed some as take away.
A plate of lala costs about the same as the mentarang. Also suitable for one or two persons.
The service was ok since there were not so many people. We went at around 3.00 pm. The staff and cashier were friendly. Menu selection is fairly limited to only few exotic seafood (depending on season and supply) and malay dishes i.e. fried rice, fried noodles, prawn noodles etc.
It is an open air restaurant with the grill pit situated in front of the restaurant. The restaurant can be hot during the day. But, standing fans are available inside the restaurant. It has a clean squat toilet. But the flush is not working. Ample parking space is also available.
It is likely that the Crown Prince of Selangor has visited this outlet, based on the banner hanging inside...
Read moreLots of mixed reviews here. This shows that the owner should maintain the quality of the foods and services. I've never heard of 'mentarang' before, and experienced it for the first time here.
Came here for lunch around 2pm on a weekday. Ordered Mentarang Bakar and Mentarang Sup for a try. Despite not having many customers, the waiting time was suprisingly long. I wondered if it's usual to take that much time to cook a mentarang. For the taste, the Mentarang Bakar was okay, and I found Mentarang Sup was quite more delicious. They were just nice, not enough to make me a fan of mentarang. Suprisingly, the price for each dishes were quite expensive, considering the portion given. Again, I wondered if it's the normal price for a mentarang.
This restaurant also served 'masakan berlauk' and 'masakan panas' like fried rice. Since it's not enough for my tummy to just have mentarang, I was going to have white rice and some dishes but unfortunately, almost all of the dishes were finished. Maybe because it's already 2pm that time and they don't serve more dishes after that.
The open air restaurant was spacious and can fit in many people at a time. There were lots of free parking space here, and you can also park beside the main road. I heard the restaurant will be full with people on weekend. Overall, it was a just an 'okay' experience. It's good to have a try, but to come here again next...
Read moreMy first time eating here. Was a good experience overall. Restaurant is easy to be found, just at the roadside. The owner is really nice and friendly. The waitress is also really helpful and nice. Tak sombong langsung! For the food, mentarang bakar itself is average I guess. The sauce taste like keropok lekor's. I prefer mentarang celup tepung more than bakar. And the sauce for celup tepung is nicer than bakar. To the highlight, BELANGKAS MASAK LEMAK is a must try 😍 a bit salty, but when you pair with the nasi putih, it was really good! I swear to God. Haha! Better ask for the big one, so the eggs will be bigger. Our food didnt take too long to be served since we come early, around 11 am. You can try other food like mee jawa. My father told it was good, not bad. And my opah tried the ikan kembong bakar, she said this one is better than Abah Ikan Bakar. Idk, I didnt try. The price is quite expensive, but to gv a try, why not since tha taste is good and the...
