Black Pot Steamboat & Grill — Restaurant in Sepang

Went there for dinner for the first time, not very crowded, peaceful ambience. Brought my family along after hearing good reviews from tiktok. Was deeply disappointed. While the service was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful which we are thankful for, it doesn't meet the hype. Maybe the quality was better last time and worsened over the years, I am not sure.

The very first thing that caught my attention was that there were a lot of flying termites (kelkatu). It can't be helped as the outlet is outdoors, but it was very annoying as they kept flying into our food and drinks while we were cooking and eating. The food quality and freshness was questionable. And there were a lot of dead kelkatu surrounding the ingredients and some of them even got into the sauces...but somehow the staff didn't think to wipe or remove the dead insects from the food area/replace the contaminated sauces. In fact, they even leave the food open so customers can take them easily (a kind gesture but not really a good move since there were so many insects...). Taste wise, it was okay. Nothing special but decent. The tom yam soup didn't really taste like tom yum...more like mee siam soup(?)

All in all, underwhelming experience but has potential to be better. Especially if hygiene and food quality is improved! 🙏 Till then, we don't...

The restaurant is one of the best steamboat restaurant I have ever been so far... There are lots of choices at there... For instance crab, clam, pepahat, squid... Extc.. If I'm not mistaken I think there are more than 4 type of marinade meats.. Not quite sure... But I'm geruntee it's more than 4..for who likes yong tau fuu.. Don't worry they got you!... Uhm, for vegetables... Lots... Really. There are lots of them.. Fried rice, spaghetti, fried noodles, salad.. For desserts there are ice cream, abc, mini chocolate foutain, pudding,... Sorry I don't even remember... The restaurant also built with prayer room... The prayer section at the upstairs of the restaurant.. You have to climb some stairs... Ohh...

The most important part.. Please and please do a reservation before you go there and enjoy the meals..... You might don't have any places left as majority of the tables are full of people, or it could be full with reservation signs...

Another Ohh... Hahaha... The restaurant are going to ask you to pay Extra rm 20,...for food waiste purpose... If you leave the place with zero food waste you will get your RM 20 back. If in case you have wasting your food... It will cost you rm 5 for each 100 gram of food wasting.

Uhm.. I'm guess that's all... Feel free to have your lunch or dinner at the...

We went for dinner here on a weekday night. Our group was one of the only two that came to the restaurant that night. Despite all that, they gave the best service as usual.

The fridges were fully stocked with ingredients for BBQ and steamboat. I can tell that these ingredients were freshly prepared as there are no sense of pungent came from them. All other food options were also made available even on a slow night. Gotta gave kudos to the team.

For RM40 price tag per adult, it was definitely worth it. You can have unlimited amount of food throughout your visit by paying that price. The marination on the ingredients were pleasant. The amount of sauce options complimented the food. And for real tho, the options were so much just for that price. Definitely will visit again.
